jesus h christ - here we ****ing go again.

in the modern world it is a fact of life that the deaths of prominent people or the relatives of prominent/famous people give us a momentary reminder of mortality/sadness/etc - proclaiming your indifference at the death of someone in the public eye and berating those who offer sympathy publicly is ludicrous and backward.

and then the attempts to appear consistent and being a straight-up honest to god type who just must speak the truth by saying "sorry about your mother but you're still a cunt" - turn off yor ****ing computers for 5 minutes and spend 5 minutes in the company of someone you love or who loves you and GET A ****NG LIFE.

        Well said.

Dhavlos, you should've just left well alone. You didn't wish to express your sympathy fine but others did and noone needed to know your opinion about it.

Frank's mother does deserve respect I agree, but why from me and why from us? She'll have her friends, family, and Frank's fans mourning for her. There'll be more than enough people mourning for her without me joining in when it's a person I know absolutely nothing about and dont really care about.

I don't understand the outrage at my view. I've not criticised or "berated" anyone for showing their sympathies and I've not taken a derogatory stance towards Frank's mum's death or his grief. I've simply expressed my indifference and surprise as to why anyone on Liverpool forum cares about the death of Frank's mother. I don't see how not expressing a few meaningless platitudes is "not showing him basic human respect".

And I don't need to be lectured on pondering "mortality and sadness" thank you very much. I was at church on both Friday and Saturday night commemorating the sacrifice Jesus made for us when enduring unimaginable pain and ultimately giving his life in order for us to live. If you ask me that kind of love and selfless sacrifice for the benefit of all of mankind is far more worthy of my thoughts than Frank and his ma.

And as far as I'm concerned, Johnny is well within his rights to say "sorry about your mother but you're still a cunt".

I've apologised for the use of the "whatever" smiley as I accept it's inappropriate in the circumstances. That aside i dont think I've posted anything offensive or derogatory towards Frank and his mother. I've simply asked why does anyone care about this? And I'm still at a loss to understand why.

If you or anyone else finds my posts in this thread offensive you are more than welcome to delete them.

              I agree with Dhavlos.

I couldn't care less about Frank and his deceased mum. As Dhav says people die all the time, it's a fact of life. The only thing certain in life is that one day you will die.

I didn't know Pat or anyone who did, so I have no feelings what so ever. It is a shame for Frank and in his case that event is more important than football. But in my situation, I'd be gutted if we go out to Chelsea, as I'm sure many others on here will. I doubt many of you are feeling to gutted at the news of Franks mum passing away.

And I don't feel bad at all. I doubt Frank would care if any of my family or friends passed away. And why should he?

So I repeat, Sad news for Frank, but it has no effect on me. And that is not me being disrespectful to Frank, nor is it me bearing Frank any ill wishes. Unlike many others on here I rate him as a player and cheer him when he plays for England.
              Forwards.......

Thanks for that mate, good post that sums up my exact feelings on this in perhaps a more sympathetic/compassionate tone and with less insensibility than I could have expressed it.

I'm willing to bet we are far from the only ones on here who are indifferent to the passing of Lampard's mother, yet for some reason I'm being castigated for expressing that.

Could people please keep this thread for messages of sympathy, cheers.

I appreciate the point of view of Dhav and others on this but we now have a thread here on which you could sensibly discuss the issues that have been raised.

No worries mate. It's not like Frank is going to read your thoughts and opinions anyway! No pont in pretending it matters just to please everyone else.
