nail on head there carlton - I can't believe this thread has dragged out, i hold my habds up for allowing it to do so but i did see the funny side when it was first posted - in my opinion Harvey obv worded it wrong - it was my and many others initial reaction as well which is why he was ripped for it - Harvey even laughed himself when he re-read what he had wrote (see the george bush post ) - move on people, ntothing to see here - either post about the subject of Keita signing for barca and nothing else!! or

If anyone has any serious issues with harvey's comment or feel he hasn't explained himself fairly then either contact a mod or maybe try discussing it with harvey in private like an adult.

I dont know about Keita. He has come out of nowhere really. He looks fantastic at times....but i just dont trust African PLAYERS. They all seem to be greedy/moody, and we have had terrible luck with them.

how is it racist to say that africans (players...whatever) are lazy and moody? what if harvey had said, in another context, that africans he knew were laid back and unpredictable? much more complimentary but basically the same thing.

i'm sure it's possible for africans to look at europeans and label us as work-obsessed and constantly concerned with organisising systems. or is that up-tight and boring? if there's a cultural stereotype that africans are more lazy/laidback/whatever there's probably some basis in reality for it. it certainly doesn't mean that if an african guy starts work in my job that i'm going to be saying to everyone "watchout - this guy is going to be lazy and moody". but i'd be surprised if someone from another culture with a different history and radically different climate to the one i'm from wasn't different to me in some small ways and equally surprised if he didn't share some of these characteristics with people from the same culture/background/climate.


i understand that africa is a continent and that it's unlikely that moroccans and tanzanians are similar in every way etc...

He's also nearly 29. Where has he been for the past 5-10 years.

He can look good/fantastic at times, but im not completely sold on him. As i said before, he's a poor mans Essien (he's still pretty good though).

On the subject of Keita- He is a good player and probably what Barca need just now.

Im glad we havent spent £12m on him though. If he was five years younger it would have been worth it but not at this age. We are building for long into the future so young players are a must.

Saying that id be delighted if we signed a 27yr old goal machine like Etoo
