I've just told you my point Tee. One club has gone down the road of selling it's best player, star performer of last season to strengthen their team. The other has decided to keep it's best player, a world class player and still strengthened. Both clubs have a net spend of zero, yet one is derided whilst the other is sucked off (not by you btw)

I think that Spurs have a great project.
They are prepared to spend OTT for players. The ambition to win is more important than money.
They don't risk anything. They could easily decided to keep a lot of the money but they want to win so they invest all the money back into the squad.
They will also soon move to a new stadium and want to sell that out from day one. They need a winning team to be able to do that. If they have that then they can set higher ticket prices and earn even more money etc.
Spurs play in London and will because of that earn even more money.
I doubt that we will be able to sell out 60k at Anfield in a few years time if we don't have a winning team. Maybe the first season but it will be very difficult after that.Stop the cyberhate

I don't agree mate, we would have sold Suarez if we had that kind of offer. Simple as that IMO. Would Spurs have sold Bale for £50m? No.Originally posted by Sarb View PostI've just told you my point Tee. One club has gone down the road of selling it's best player, star performer of last season to strengthen their team. The offer was too good to turn down."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

Anyway, I'm spending way too much time in a Spurs thread when it's all finally kicking off for us on incomings it looks like!Originally posted by Tee View PostI don't agree mate, we would have sold Suarez if we had that kind of offer. Simple as that IMO. Would Spurs have sold Bale for £50m? No.

How would we react as a fan base if we were in their position? I'd like to think that if there were tangible signs of improvement throughout the season, we'd understand that it takes time for a team to gel. You're probably right though.Originally posted by Sarb View PostAfter spending £80m+ in this window, I don't think he's going to have any excuses, regardless of selling Bale. He's going to have to deliver Top 4 or he's going to get sacked.
I can see it being a pretty close run thing for the top 6 this season. I don't think there will be that much in it.K ris90210

If we would have done the same then Rodgers would be in the same situation IMO.
I think that he is already is in that situation. Finish in the top four or getting sacked
and that isn't fair if you look at the quality we signed this summer.
If we had signed someone like Willian then you could argue that Rodgers must finish in the top four but we didn't.
It is fair to say that AVB must finish in the top four but it isn't fair to say that Rodgers must do it.Stop the cyberhate

Also, this whole 'Play in London so will earn more money' is quite honestly bollocks. You need to back these absurd statements with some background and information.
Also Arn, it's a LOT more expensive to actually live in London. Money doesn't stretch as far in the capital.
However, I do think it's potentially a valid point to say that London might be a more attractive city to live in than Liverpool for someone with no affiliation to either.K ris90210

Ohh ok. By saying Arsenal you have proven a point then. They are just a well run club. I dont see what their location has to do with it. Man Utd are probably just as well run by now. They are based in the North West.Originally posted by Arn View PostArsenal.

So erm...I still dont see what your point is.*Except Michael, who died.

We already saw what happened when our manager spent that magnitude of money and didn't meet requirements. He was sacked.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostHow would we react as a fan base if we were in their position? AVB has to deliver CL football. But I think there are some serious questions over his tactics and how he sets his teams up.
