What was the ref doing with the penalty. Everyone was ready to go and he was just holding everyone up for no reason. Doubt it was VAR as it was a clear penalty and no foul in the build up.

According to the commentators on ITV, he wasn't happy with the placement of the ball on the spot. No idea why that takes 3 minutes, but I reckon VAR were actually checking it. I mean, you'd look a proper dick head if you disallowed a penalty goal.

I agree, it just seems totally detrimental. I can't imagine many keepers are stupid enough to see the stutter and then commit before the ball is struck.
