That is true, maybe Aguero & Ribery? I struggle to think of another brilliant winger so maybe they would go for Aguero & Eto'o, either way thats a hell of a chunk of cash so its not all bad as theres a chance these new guys would flop.
Ronaldo, despite being an utter cuntish cunt, was a proven talent in our league so ill be glad to see the back of him.

Even if they have money in the bank, it doesn't mean they can buy those players outright.

will be interesting to see how they line up next year.......Roooney and Berba back up front with 2 new wingers? back to how they played before?

or will it be Berba in the middle with Rooney and Kun/Eto' in a 4-3-3

One thing is for certain, they wont be as threatening at free kicks

They are in a different league when it comes to buying individuals now
I'm sure they outspent us in the 80s. They started the decade by breaking the British transfer record when they bought Bryan Robson. At no point in the 80s did we hold that record and although we obviously spent, it was by no means more than them IMO. They spent big on the likes of Neil Webb, Danny Wallace and plenty of others. They also tried to buy Barnes and Beardsley but they got blown out in preference for us.

Beardsley broke the transfer record when we signed him.

I always thought that they spent big, but i just couldnt see craig being wrong !

the only time i really remember spending heavily was the late 80's with barnes, aldridge, beardsley etc.

We never had to up until then as we were such a well oiled machine

Granted, 'throughout the 80s' was probably flippant.

I guess this answers the "Big Club" question then.

I've said it before but I think everybody is a winner in this deal.

Real, because they get Ronaldo, who will improve their team, and their marketing ability.

Ronaldo, because he gives lots of signals that he wants out of England. It also looks like that he's fallen out with Fergie, and we all know there is only going to be one winner there.

United, because they are cashing on his value now. Ronaldo will never be worth as much as Real are prepared to pay right now. His contract will run down, as will his value, and by the looks of things, his attitude.

United can now go and spend loads on just anybody they like.

We are also winners, because United's team will be weaker next season. That said, I'm not writing them off.
                          Oh I don't know.

Not if they can buy anyone they like.

They could actually be stronger next season if they buy right.

No Ronaldo, No Tevez, Giggs and Scholes getting on = a weaker squad but they are still a force.

                              Within reason.

They can't have Kaka, Gerrard, Torres and the like. They could get Eto'o, Ribery, Benzema etc. Are they an improvement on what they have now? I don't think so.

Manutd will be fecked next season if this is true. Ronaldo has won them the league for two years running, without him they are nothing special.

As has already been said, £75m is all well and good, but there are not that many players out there at the moment who would make the difference, who are available, and who want to play in England. They'll be screwed if he goes, 2nd or 3rd next season without doubt.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."
