Obviously his move leaves a very bitter taste in the mouth but he said he'd have taken a 100,000 grand a week pay cut to join us. Rafa didnt want him, simple as.

No doubt he'll score a fair few goals for them but tbh i really dont care. He's not fit to lace Torres' boots and simply wouldnt have fitted into our style of play. Ferguson thinks he can get away with having a passenger like goalscorer in his team, the more modern coaches (like Rafa) feel they need more of a work ethic/team player with more mobility.

I still like him as a player (and for the memories) but he was never my favourite and after he stiffed us (twice) we didnt owe him the chance to resurrect his career. By choosing Newcastle he deserved all the bad luck he's had since.

No-one can persuade me that United have strengthened their attack by bringing him in. Unless they bring in 2 more outstanding forward players they'll be weaker than last year.

I never quite took to him. As a player I thought we lost more in the way I felt the entire team had to play to his strengths rather that slotting into a system. Sure he could always get you a goal but you needed a support striker and 6 players firing through balls whilst he permantly sits on the shoulder of the last defender ..

All I can say is, what goes around comes around. And in the past 5 years, it's come around for Owen a lot, and in my humble opinion, it won't ever stop coming around for him. He knows it and so do we. All the smiles and bumwanks he's giving the Mancs doesn't change the fact that HE knows that he ****ed it when he left and that's why his career shattered into a thousand pieces.

Even if he manages to stay half fit (or gets a game or two or whatever), in 20 years, when his kids are old enough to ask him about why he left Liverpool, he will still know how he ****ed it.

And that's not because he "loves" Liverpool, nobody would have ever needed to know he didn't. There's lots of players we had who didn't exceptionally love the club, but they did well anyhow. But he will look back and think "If only I had given Rafa a chance (twice!)".

And that's enough solace for me, I know that he knows that his career is ****ed. Wait until half-way through the season after the honeymoon period he's enjoying now, when he's injured again and he's donning the physio-tables at United, it will all come crashing down on him. It ain't about what he's going to achieve with United, it's about what he didn't achieve when he left. And not because we're Liverpool and he loves us to bits. But because he knows this club is seriously special and he could have been a more valued player than he actually was. And he knows it was all his owen undoing.

And I betcha that hurts him more than anything, knowing he was the one who made all those wrong decisions in the first place, even if he won the league with United, or won a cup, he knows the **** that's come with it and how it - from a professional point of view - doesn't merit anything. Joining United is a mere consolation, he knows it, we know it and more need not be said.

I'll admit it, I am now a bit scared that Owen will turn out to be a success for United. They will switch to 4-4-2 and Owen, Rooney and Berbatov make a good striketeam.

I agree with you mate. Thats the cause of my disappointment. Its a big if for sure but one all the same
