It was tongue in cheek...altho it would work with poaching young players tho, players with no chance of a first team debut in the near future...buy them, train them, play them in unofficial matches...then register them when the ban is over.

I think Roma were banned for 2 windows over the Mexes signing but it was reduced to 1 window after appeal

Could do that, but the players concerned would need to accept being 'unregistered' and in effect, unemployed, so would chelsea even be able to pay them a salary legally? And the players would be free to do the dirty on chelsea and go to another club if they felt like it.

Manure pocketed a huge wad of cash for a player that had never set foot in the place tho - £8m or something? Chelski also paid off Spurs handsomely for stealing Arneson I believe?

Chelsea bought their way out of trouble again when they agreed to pay Leeds United nearly £5million in compensation over the alleged "tapping up" of three of their youth team players.
The Football Association and Premier League have sanctioned the settlement, which appears to put the club bankrolled by Roman Abramovich's billions above the law of the game.
The reigning champions could have lost vital Premiership points over the row. But the deal, which will be viewed by many within football as "hush money", saves Jose Mourinho's team from that fate and leaves Chelsea with England under 16 internationals Tom Taiwo and Michael Wood as valuable additions to their set-up.
When the dispute originally erupted in the summer, Ken Bates, the former Chelsea chairman now in charge at Leeds, said a financial penalty would not hurt Chelsea.
"Because of the financial strength of their owner, financial punishments alone will make no difference to Chelsea at all," said Bates at the time.
"Punishments such as deduction of points, banning registration of new players or, indeed, suspension from European competition would be more appropriate."
But Bates has now withdrawn the complaint he made to the Football League just before the start of the season, in which he claimed that Chelsea had illegally recruited Taiwo and Wood and attempted to recruit a third youth-team player Danny Rose, who eventually chose to stay at Elland Road.
In agreeing to the £5m pay-off, Leeds have also submitted to a confidentiality clause, which insists: "There will be no further statements."
The Leeds pay-off is the latest incident in which Chelsea have flouted football?s laws under the ownership of Abramovich, who made his billions during the controversial privatisation of Russian state industries in the early Nineties.
Chelsea stillhave a three point suspended penalty hanging over them for tapping up Arsenal?s England defender, Ashley Cole, last year.
Although this latest incident would not have invoked a points deduction directly, it is likely that any disciplinary commission would have inflicted a severe punishment on Chelsea in the light of their previous offences.
Abramovich's club were also fined £300,000 after the Cole affair, with the left-back eventually joining Chelsea last August.
Chelsea were also accused of breaching Premier League rules in August 2005 when they recruited Tottenham?s sporting director of football, Frank director of scouting. Once again Abramovich avoided a points penalty by paying £5m in compensation.
Chelsea are still subject to a joint Premier League and FA inquiry after Arnesen was filmed for a BBC Panorama documentary offering the agent of Middlesbrough youth team player Nathan Porritt 'one fifty thousands over three years' in apparent breach of Premier League rules. And in July Chelsea paid £16m to Manchester United and Lyn Oslo to end a row over the recruitment of John Obi Mikel.Bates' decision to take the £5m rather than hold out for a points deduction and other punitive measures appears to reflect the financial realities at Leeds.
They need money after spending about £500,000 on sacking manager Kevin Blackwell and paying off Swindon to secure the services of Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet, who would doubtless also welcome funds to bring in new players in January.
The suspicion is that the football authorities, keen to avoid the controversy and legal challenge which might have followed a points deduction, allowed their investigation to drag on long enough for it to be settled by Abramovich's wallet rather than a tribunal.
Although it is understood that Chelsea have not admitted breaking any rules, the contents of a joint statement from the Premier League and Football Association says: "Chelsea FC have undertaken to conduct an internal review of policies and procedures in relation to the recruitment of players."
The club are also said to have agreed to "develop their own code of conduct".

                        we laugh now

but if things don't go well for us this season

and chelsea are the only team who can stop the scum from winning the title,

then chelsea players leave for the african tournament
                        and injury problems occur.

we might not be too happy then

i can see a few people cursing at fifa then
                        calling it anti-english bias etc.

Does anyone know if they can sign players on long term loan, as the registration of the player registrated with the owning club
