Surely if he gets his contract terminated then he is a free agent and can join another team

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I'm guessing he just didn't do the maths right when he signed. Seeing as he's 35 now, he probably finally twigged on that even if Notts County did manage the very unlikely feat of a promotion every season until they made it to the Premier League, that he'd be an old git by then.

Sol Campbell hated his Notts County debut at Morecambe so much it prompted the former England star to quit after just one game.

Defender Campbell, 35, had his lucrative five-year contract with the League Two club terminated yesterday by mutual consent.

But the star had no plans to leave County until playing 90 minutes in a 2-1 defeat at Christie Park last Saturday.

Just last week he was house-hunting in Nottingham and planning to honour his commitment to the Meadow Lane club.

Yet Campbell's debut at Morecambe brought home the enormity of his drop from the Premier League after leaving Portsmouth on a free.

Campbell also felt let down by the lack of other high-profile arrivals at County after director of football Sven Goran Eriksson persuaded him to join.

But his abrupt decision to quit and say goodbye to team-mates on Tuesday has left the club’s hierarchy fuming.

Owners Munto Finance feel badly treated by Campbell and believe the veteran was naive not to expect life in League Two to be a massive culture shock.

Magpies’ chairman Peter Trembling said: “This is a five year project, not a five week one.

“If a player doesn’t want to play for us we don’t want him here.”

Campbell also felt put in an awkward position as it was Eriksson who brought him to the club - not manager Ian McParland.

And McParland was noticeably ambivalent towards the arrival of the former Spurs and Arsenal star.

Campbell in turn was not impressed by McParland having worked under the likes of Arsene Wenger in the past.

But McParland insists he did not force Campbell out of the club, last night saying: “Sol is a smashing lad and a decent human being.”

Campbell is now considering his options but the Football League claim he will not be able to play for a new club until the January window.

And he is unlikely to be the only man departing soon as the pressure mounts further on McParland with County eighth in the table.
