But I worry whenever the ball is hit at him now and I struggle to remember his last performance when anyone could honestly say he kept us in a game. I watch other teams come to Anfield and see their keeper have a stormer, get them a point (or 3) they have no right to get. When is the last time Reina did that for us?

Not saying we should obviously get rid, but I'm not sure the opinion that not everything is right for us in goal at the moment is entirely either.
No keeper could have kept us in some of the games we have lost this season. Reina has not been up to his standards but he has been improving.

So, rather than still question him because he did not hold onto one shot on Saturday, I think we should be saying he has done well and kept a clean sheet. And pulled off a magnificent save from that free kick.

So, as far as I am concerned things are looking good in that department and to still question the guy is a bit out of order and deserves the

Pesonally i think Reina has struggling with Rogers passing system. Reina is fantastic at picking out long balls, but often this season with Rogers (especially initially) reluctance to hoof ball, Reina seemed uncomfortable and very nervy playing short passing out from the back. You could see he wanted to play the long ball but obviously Rogers wanted to play out from the back.

Recently though Reina is not messing around, and when he needs to hoof it long, he does. Nothing wrong with that and rather him get it out of dodge that than have the potential to make a mistake trying to play short balls around the box. Not made any real clangers recently, so hopefully sign of improvement, needs competition to motivate him IMO.

Reina has been directly at fault for several goals conceded this year. And he could have done better with a few more than that too. He's not been below his own high standards just, he's actually been below standard at times. To the extent that some people even suggested flipping Brad Jones should keep his place in the side a while back. In that context it is in no way "out of order" to vaguely question him. No player should ever be totally immune from criticism, especially criticism that is actually based in reality. You don't have to agree of course, as I said before I don't think we should sell him or anything myself yet, 3 years ago he was one of the best keepers in Europe and his distribution is top drawer, but "out of order" just questioning him given his form for the last 2 seasons? Sorry, no.

I think Reina needs time to adapt to the system, I don't think we're playing the way Rodgers wants us to yet and at times we have been all over the place defensively which doesn't help. I still think he's a good keeper but he has never been the best shot stopper we need to get back to gettting the best out of him.

I haven't seen much of Butland, but I don't like the idea because he'll be expensive and he is untested, selling your first choice keeper and replacing him with a kid is a massive gamble.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

But you are still not addressing the fact that he is improving and pulled off a brilliant save on Saturday? Why ignore the facts that he is getting better and possibly over his dip in form?

              Benteke's first a week ago.

"Improving" is your entirely subjective interpretation dude. And yeah, that was a good save. A save I would have expected a top keeper to make though. He also spilled one... or was it two, balls he should have gathered imo.

His "dip" has been several seasons long. I have yet to see sustained evidence myself that he is back to, or approaching, his best.

What concerns me most isn't necessarily the elementary mistakes - all keepers make them - but his non-existent shot-stopping. He hardly saves any shots, and for far too long we've been too easy to score against. I'd love to see the stats for us conceding with our first shot on target. I imagine it's pretty shocking.

His dip in form has gone on for 2 seasons. Nothing rash or earth shattering about admitting that. Sometimes you have to rely on your keeper to help you out, and i don't have the confidence or faith in him that once did.

We all hope he improves as he's been superb for us & he comes across as a good guy

Butland's 'passing' game is awful from what I've seen.
                      Are we winning?

                        absolutely shocking.

                        probably.

                            I have faith in Pepe.

Yes it's plain to see he's not been at his best, motivation and maybe disillusionment at LFC's continuing failure to improve on and off the pitch possibly playing a part.

Hopefully he can see a brighter future here now, a new challenge with BR and the old Pepe back.

At this stage I still have faith in him but it's being severely tested.

Fair enough, but I am looking at the positives and I saw some on Saturday. Including him saving a couple of shots believe it or not! And the save from the Rodallega free kick was Pepe of old but no one mentions that do they?

Anyway, I have faith in him and am confident he will reach his old level again very soon. With Lucas protecting the back 4 and the way the team was set up means Pepe will not have to do much hopefully, but when called upon he showed on Saturday he can pull it off.
