From what I remember, with those three, by xmas LFC had the best defensive record in the league. I suppose it depends on the system and the recruits. THey have to be spot on though - its a big risk.

I'd be cautiously optimistic that we'd be ok with this back five:

      ---------------Locker---------------

      Toure------Dad-----Agger----Insua

      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Insua would actually be a shrewd signing to be honest

Hmmm, not sure if Locker is a big enough unit

But he'd be fit a lot of clean sheets in during the season
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

But a good combination up front would expose him badly...

He wasn't anywhere near as bad as people made him out to be.

I love Pepe as much as the next guy but it sounds like he's off, I'm happy for him that he's going to Barca though, if we hold out for maybe 12-15 million I'm satisfied, he's a high earner and he needs a new challenge. Next season will be interesting, specially IF Suarez goes as well.

                  New GK

Johnson - New CB - Agger - Enrique

                  Gerrard - Lucas

New ATT - Coutinho - New ATT

                  Sturridge
                  * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Pepe is a proven world class keeper and letting him leave would be a gamble. Plus he is one of the few truly world class players we have. I wouldn't be so excited abt replacing him.

If he does go though my choice would be Vorm

I'm not sure he's really been world class for a few years now in all honesty. I think he was once, but he's not any more.

He's had a couple of good months towards the end of this season just gone, but he's been pretty average for the last couple years on the whole. Just doesn't inspire confidence anymore.

i think pretty average is a bit harsh. He still is a top class keeper.

Although once i would have been gutted if he left, Now i think he is replaceable although would prefer to kepp.

It will be another big personality gone from the dressing room as well.

I quite like the look of the palace keeper.

                              Good God, Pepe for Speroni.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

IF... and it is only that at this stage... it should be Begovic or even Vorm or Mignolet before the likes of Speroni. If we didn't have Jones (and budget wasn't a problem), it would have been ideal to go after Butland as our preferred reserve keeper...
