Pepe will take a wage cut when it's a choice between staying at Napoli or sitting on the bench here IMO.

Try before you buy. If the player settles and performs then you buy him. It's what all loan deals should be about unless you are using it for a young player to gain experience.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostWhat would be the point of such a deal? Wouldn't it just equate to a permanent transfer?

Of course it is.The player has to fulfil certain criteria before the clause to buy him is activated. In this case we've loaned him out ,I saw no mention of a loan fee although we may have got one and if they can't pay his wages next season we must have been paying some of them this season. Seems like a **** deal for us to me. I'd rather have kept him. If he doesn't like it he can request a transfer and lower his wage demands to get a move.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostNope, still don't get it. We had that agreement about the sale of Aquilani where they had to buy him for a set price if he played 20 games, he actually ended up playing 19.5 and was dropped after thatOriginally posted by cream View PostDoes that ever happen though ?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We mug ourselves by giving (often older) players ridiculous wages when they renew creating a millstone around our neck. Carra, Johnson, reina, joe cole, downing, possibly Agger. We can't shift players on the best part of 100 grand a week when they're not at the level for our first team. There aren't many clubs in the world who can pay those kind of wages and most of the ones that can don't want that level of player.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Ah mate if Reina has to come back then it's lose-lose.Originally posted by Nigey View PostHim coming back is not a bad thing at all. If he stays and no one wants him, he'll bring some good competition to the position.
We're lumbered with a 'keeper on massive wages who we can't shift. A 'keeper who wants to play but is dumped in the reserves but can't / won't move on due to finance reasons.
I can't see where he's going to go though.
Barca, Napoli, LFC, Atleti (even if Courtois goes back to Chelsea) don't need him. I'm guessing Arsenal have lost interest in him. A second-rate Italian club?
Best case / realistic scenario is Lloris going to PSG and Reina heading to Spurs as a replacement.
