When an injury is not so serious the club normally releases a press statement saying 'he will be out for 1 week etc'. When it takes longer to test and release a press statement its normally more serious.
not being funny but this wayne rooney we are talking about.

I heard Gordon Brown will be announcing the results of his tests at 2pm.

Manchester United have confirmed the extent of Wayne Rooney’s injury, sustained in Tuesday night’s match against Bayern Munich.

A spokesperson told ManUtd.com, “We’re pleased to report that Wayne has not suffered a fracture. The scan revealed only minor ligament damage.”

For now, the club is not commenting on how many games Wayne is likely to miss. However, Sir Alex Ferguson will say more about the matter in his regular press conference at Carrington on Friday morning (09:30 BST).

I am fully aware of that fact.....it was more a dig about the national obsession with him, but hey ho.

****ing hell, Ferguson even has to play mind games over an injury. If he's being all cloak and dagger he'll probably be back for the weekend, but I'd hope that ligament damage would put him out for a couple of weeks at least.

dont wish serious injury on anybody but i kinda wished the english "messiah" was gonna miss the world cup to stop all the english banging on about how he'll win the world cup etc.....
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Kenny Sansom said on Sky last night:

"We saw Maradona win the World Cup for Argentina on his own. In Rooney we have the same sort of player."

i think if it's even a minor sprain - he will defo not play this weekend and will be pushing it for the return leg. He will prob make it but it would be big a risk i reckon. If he plays in the 2nd leg, then he will prob be ****ed for another week or two. If he doesn't play the weekend and the return leg, then he will be 100% by next weekend. Thats if it's just a bare minimum sprain/twist of the ligaments....

I have had enough ankle injuries to know
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I heard Clive Tyldsley (or whoever) on ITV last night saying "Messi - well, if you don't mind me saying, he's been disappointing."

Angling for a Rooney comparisson no doubt
