This is why I hate the whole England thing. Build the whole thing up to a ridiculous level that idiot fans actually think England have a divine right to win the world cup because Runny is the best player in the world, only to be disappointed when they get knocked out at the group stages.

But usually when the scum say a player is out for 3 weeks he's back in under 2, particularly if he's a big player
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He's playing 'reverse mind games' if there is such a thing!

London - Wayne Rooney could make a surprise return to the Manchester United team to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday, British media reported on Monday.

The talismanic England striker suffered ankle ligament damage in last Tuesday's first leg in Munich which Bayern won 2-1.

However, according to sources close to the club, Rooney has made a much quicker recovery than expected and has the chance of playing despite manager Alex Ferguson ruling him out for "two to three weeks" last Friday.

United expect Rooney back for the derby game against Manchester City on April 17, but Ferguson could have him back sooner.

"Rooney hope of shock return against Bayern," read a headline in the Daily Telegraph, while the Daily Mail said "United test Wayne for Bayern comeback."

Last week the nation held its breath with Rooney sustaining the injury so close to the World Cup which starts in South Africa on June 11, but although he left Munich on crutches and with his foot in a protective plastic boot, he has made good progress on a water treadmill and an exercise bike.

The England striker has been in top form this season, netting 34 times and Fabio Capello's side are counting on him for the World Cup finals.

The 24-year-old had scored United's goal in the second minute against Bayern but was left writhing on the pitch in stoppage time, seconds before Ivica Olic scored Bayern's winner. - Reuters

i'm not so sure he's healed his ankle properly, and if not he might even come back with a worse injury. he's being rushed back imo, fergie's in a bit of a panic.

                      hopefully

I'm hoping its a painkilling injection but in the long term the injury causes more problems.

Actually thats wrong of me to wish woe and misery on someone else. I wish him a speedy recovery

I think it would be a big risk to play him. Bayern would target him straight away!

If he has ligament damage, one week isn't going to heal it. One big tackle and the whole ligament could rupture. Huuuuuuge risk to play him IMO. ****, i couldn't run for 14 weeks when i buggered my ankle last year.

As much as i hate the Mancs, and hope they crumble.....a WC without Rooney would be a bit ****.
