Numbers have a certain characteristic to them - eg, 12 is a fullback, 14 and 15 and 16 are central non attacking midfielders, 17 is a winger, 18 is either a winger or a creative forward, 19 and 20 are strikers. 21 is a keeper

England captain Rio Ferdinand has gone to hospital for a scan on a knee injury he picked up in training on Friday.

The centre-back hurt his left knee towards the end of England's first session following their arrival at their Rustenburg base on Thursday.

England manager Fabio Capello said: "It happened in a normal tackle it was the collateral (knee ligament) but we will have to wait for the scan."
