Yep. Makes sense all round. I reckon Ireland will flourish under Martin O'Neill..just the manager he needs imo.

Apparently Milner is "a Marwood signing" and it remains to be sign whether Mancini fancies him. Brian Marwood is a cunt.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

If Villa get Ireland and £20m from City for Milner like it's reported, they will have pulled a blinder. To get £20m and a better player for Milner is a masterstroke. Yes, Ireland is a better player than Milner and he'll prove that if he joins Villa.

I think Barry, De Jong (or whoever ends up winning their battle to be their DM) and Milner would be a really strong central three for a PL team.

On the point about Ireland and Milner. Ireland probably does have more talent but he doesn't have the mentality to make the most of it in my view. Milner however seems to have a great attitude and I think will go on to be a very good player. He needs a manager to settle on a position for him though.

Don't agree, he's an incredibly hard worker. He's just a bit mental, but it doesn't mean he's not a professional. He had a slump because he played for a manager who didn't believe in him. I can see him having a far better season than Milner and being slapped with a £30m price tag next summer.

To be honest, I think that for £10m, we should cut our losses on Aquilani and get this guy.

NOTW saying Ashley Young to spurs around the £20million mark and £80k wages a week.......deal would have gone through a few months ago but Young was holding out for higher wages

BBC:Manchester City say they hope to complete the signings of Aston Villa midfielder James Milner and Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli by Thursday.
On Friday, Villa manager Martin O'Neill admitted Milner was on the verge of a big-money move to Manchester City.
Villa rejected a £20m bid from City for Milner in May and put a £30m price tag on the England midfielder.
"We are close with both players but now they are going with their national teams," said City boss Roberto Mancini.
