Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Mattshark is talking b*ll*cks. That's fine of course - we all do - but this time, of all people, he has absolutely no facts to back up his argument.

Why isn't it? You're just making rules up to suit your argument. The Swiss 'were camped in their own half for 90% of the 2nd half' - which is exactly what you said Serbia did against the Germans. Yet you defend Switzerland for it, and lambast Serbia. We all know you like Germany man but get real. You want one rule when it suits, and another when it doesn't. Germany are better than Serbia, Spain are better than Switzerland. The Serbs and The Swiss did little differently, yet you admire it when it goes your way and despise it when it doesn't.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostI never complained about, I said everyone else was
But nice quote mining, taking it out of context. Comparing the Swiss to the Spainish isn't the same as comparing the Serbians to the Germans.

I am not lambasting them, I said they were poor and they were. I said other people were applauding it from Serbia and having a go at other teams for playing in such a way.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostWhy isn't it? They weren't poor though, they did exactly what you praised the Swiss for and executed it brilliantly. They won 1-0, defended well and still managed to hit the woodwork two or three times.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostI am not lambasting them, I said they were poor and they were. Serbia had a lead to protect against a better side. If you've got a pistol and your opponent has a machine gun... you don't up and face them, you take cover and take pot shots.Originally posted by MattsharkDon't be silly, why should they go out and let themselves get ripped apart.

Not really, they countered well but when they got the ball and had to play I thought they used it very poorly.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostThey weren't poor though, they did exactly what you praised the Swiss for and executed it brilliantly. Again, I thought they just used the ball poor and where struggling through large parts of the half.Serbia had a lead to protect against a better side. If you've got a pistol and your opponent has a machine gun... you don't up and face them, you take cover and take pot shots.

So you want every team with Liverpool players and potential Liverpool players to win on that ground then?Originally posted by Taxi View PostAh so we want the club and vice Captain to have a terrible summer do we? That'll help LFC.

Well yes? I obviously have a preference to England as its my nation, but I always look to support the LFC lads current and ex players and find it bizzare when I see LFC fans cheering when they watch Gerrard and Carra walk off the pitch after losing.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostSo you want every team with Liverpool players and potential Liverpool players to win on that ground then?
Could you imagine the impact that having a World Cup winning Captain and medal winning Vice Captain would have on the other players in the team? It would be a huge positive.Play Ball!!!!!!!

It isn't about those players, it is about the team, I don't support or like England.Originally posted by Taxi View PostWell yes? Fair enough.Originally posted by Taxi View PostI disagree
You don't like England? A bit of a sweeping statement that...
The national team, not the country.

I blame the Serbs, actually.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostMaybe so but I'll never forgive Der Kaiser for his expansionist and aggressive foreign policy that helped precipitate World War I.

Gavrilo Princip (Serbian Cyrillic: Гаврило Принцип, pronounced [ɡǎʋrilo prǐntsip]; 13 July 1894(1894-07-13)[2] – 28 April 1918) was a Bosnian Serb who was a Yugoslav nationalist associated with the movement Mlada Bosna (Young Bosnia).[3] Princip assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, in Sarajevo on 28 June 1914.[4] Princip and his accomplices were arrested and implicated a number of members of the Serbian military, leading Austria-Hungary to issue a démarche to Serbia known as the July Ultimatum.[5] This set off a chain of events that led to World War I.[6]Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club
