Ugly, excessive, much like the rest of the architecture in that part of the world.

      What a waste of resources.
      Oh I don't know.

If South Africa could not sell out most of the games this Summer, what chance does a nation of 1.4 million people have?

          They think that people can

          a) afford to travel there
          b) afford to stay there

I think the majority of fans can not.
          Oh I don't know.

It shouldn't really have been Qatar on its own but with some other country like the UAE. Pretty sure the surround countries will end surpporting it.

Can't wait to arrive at the match in a water taxi

Seriously, were FIFA dreaming or what. Qatar is 1/7 the size of Ireland. Are they going to build the stadia on top of each other!!

you are aware that it is the most green build WC ever right? and that all the staduims are being donated to African developing countries afterwards, it's actually anything but a waste of resources.

The Olympic cities are a constant waste of resources though, they turn in to ghost cities.

I agree though that it's strange how they expect to sell out the matches.

Perhaps it could be an advantage for them in that it would be easy to get around to a lot of different matches, without flights or day long transports. It would make the fans more accesible to other matches, which could make it quite attractive for people travelling from a far. It was a problem in SA that the distances were so big for even teams in the same group.

They are donating the stadia to Africa? I didn't know that.

How will they get them there? Helicopter?

                      Which countries?

As far as green is concerned, every single qualified country team and fan will have to fly long haul to get there.
                      Oh I don't know.

Not to sure how it works, but they have planned every stadium to be easy to ship to African developing countries. Don't know if the countries have been choosen yet, but the payment is covered 100% by Qatar.

And the whole flying argument is a bit poor tbh, that is the case no matter where you hold the WC. People flew to SA, they will fly to Brazil and Russia that's just the way it is. If held in England everybody would fly there.

The only problem with shipping stadium parts from Qatar to Africa is that they would probably have to pass through Somali waters eventually
