    And I like the idea of being able to arrive at a stadium by water taxi. How many other stadia can you say that about? Maybe Fulham or Blackpool (is that near the water?)

      You've got to remember that Qatar have got 12 years to get everything ready. Plenty of time to build new hotels and change any alcohol laws.

      You can be certain they'll do like China did for the Olympics - they'll throw ridiculous amounts of money at it.

                    Quite right. FWIW, when you go to a place like that, there's very little time spent outside because it's so ridiculously hot. I reckon that queuing in the heat is going to be the biggest problem

                            Given that the money to build them has come from oil, I dont think some solar panels on the roof will compensate for building them, knocking them down, shipping them across the world, and rebuilding them.
