I work with a fair few united fans, and they can see where Rooney is coming from with regards to squad strength. However, they think he should have taken the chance to bring the Glazers name to the front, blame it on the owners, which he didn't do.

What I dont get is, that he says SAF is a genius and is a brilliant manager. But then in the next breath says the club lack ambition. If he is such a genius, then surely that should be enough to calm his fears that the club will lack investment. Its all about money and the chance of bigger and better pay deals. Money drives us all in employment.

it's amazing to think - considering what we have been through and are currently going through - that they have some **** going too - I'm at my lowest point I can remember as liverpool fan, tho hopefull these new owners and we get a new manager quick, will turn it round - but they look like they are just about to start their downward spiral

aye - well i heard ferguson saying - I'm the best around at developing and rebuilding the team and identifying potential and nuturing it etc -

My initial reaction was - yeah you've done well....but how much longer are you going to be around......Does he or United or the fans really believe that he has it in to rebuild again - and this time the re build is tougher than ever - for a start no money, and secondly he's had giggs and scholes for 15 years - two of the top pro's on and off the field in the whole of europe, that i'd argue, if we had the pair of them over the last 15 years, i'd be confident in saying we'd have one the premier league at least once - really can't undestimate the impact it will have when those two go

So what's happeneing then... media seem to be waiting for this utd staement, meeting at Carrington this morning where Fergie has said something like "this story needs to be put to bed...don't want it turning into a saga".

So on that basis the media seem to be waiting for utd to take some sort of action today, whether it's saying Looney won't play for them again or sending him out on loan maybe, or maybe even to the club that will eventually buy him...if that's poss.

Anyway, we'll see how they plan to "put this to bed"...i think it's impossible...even if he go's to City the story will rumble on. imo.

Aye theres no way he'll be staying at United. They obviously can't afford to spend big money on big players anymore and thats not going to change anytime soon. As I said a couple of days ago his team have probably already done a mega money deal worth over £50m with Garry Cook.

Tell you what though, if we were in the financial position of Man City, Rooney and his advisers would just as happily do a deal with us. He doesn't give a **** about rivalry and tradition.

I wouldn't ever chant his name or buy anything with Rooney on it. He'd just be another player to me. Id just enjoy ripping all the mancs about how they took Michael Owen and we took Rooney. Especially since until sunday they all worshipped him

Just to touch on what V said. I wouldn't have his name on my shirt. In fact i have only ever had one name on the back of my shirt and that was God 23 when i was 12.
