Depends what they want to achieve. If they want to win the league then that is the kind of money to they must spend short term.

It is a gamble and if you own a top class sport team then that is the kind of decisions you will have to make sooner or later.

They have done gambles like that before with the Red Soxs.

I never said that it is reasonable. I only said what they must do if they want us to be able to compete short term in the transfer market.

We would IMO not even scout a player like Lucas if we aren't prepared to pay £30m+ for him.

If you scout a player like him then you are also prepared to pay big money to get him because you will compete against mega rich clubs to get him.

The same with Hazard. We scout him because he is an excellent player and because we can afford to sign him.

Getting into the CL and increasing revenues is a return, isnt it?

I think our owners must be prepared to make at least a £40m+ loss a year until we play in a bigger stadium.

The rules don't allow that so that is another problem.

The key point is still that we must get a bigger stadium. If we don't? Well, then we are finished as a top club.

By the time a new stadium is built we will be circa £150 million in debt and will also have to service the debt for building the stadium in the 1st place - we cannot pay back with peanuts!!

We've been close to administration once before, and you are advocating a policy which may/will cause it again - you are off you're bloody head, with no true concept of finance and economics.

It makes no sense having budgetting with a yearly loss, not least considering the new UEFA fair play rules - we might get back in to the CL but we will be thrown out due to our defecits.
