Sorry I read it cost £430million to sort.

this was just 1 headline from 2009

The games would have been early, not sure when they kick off you time, but we are 11 hours ahead of you so just take 1 hour off the time they normally start and you have the time in the opposite am/pm. They would be fairly early I would assume if they were played during the times they start for European WC's. But it would be very easy for us to start the games much later in the night so they are at a better time for you guys, most of the A-League games are played at night time down here.

The thing that seems worst for me in the dodgy stuff about FIFA is how the two dutch votes were moved after England was knocked out. If those two votes started with Russia then England and the Dutch would have been on the same votes. So ****ing dodgy. And how did Australia only get 1 vote? That is a disgrace, although the only vote from our area (tahiti) was removed due to the apparent bribes or whatever and that would have been a vote for us in 2022 selection. Also, I believe a lot of the Asian bids were focused on Japan and if they were knocked out before us a lot of those votes would have come to us.

Nonetheless is a ****ing dodgy situation for both of us and its something we can actually agree on!

wasnt the £430m the cost to stage it if we won?

To be honest though, did anyone actually think we'd win it? In truth the English are as popular in the football world as Nick Clegg is with the students. Even if there were no dodgy deals, vote trading or back handers it would come down to a popularity contest and England wouldn't have won that either.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Rest of the world = Everton

            And England = Newcastle
            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Apparently only 3 of the 22 committee members had requested the full technical reports prior to the vote, and two of these were from bidding nations, ie, so they could be passed to their own bid teams

They could at least have the decency to pretend they were making a decision based on the facts

The Japan/Korea world cup had games starting at 7am for us, i think.

That's pretty much right on the edge of what's just about ok. Australia is further ahead of the uk, i believe?

The only way Australia could host a world cup, would be to have games kicking off at 5pm, 7pm and 9pm local time - which would equate to 7am, 9am and 11am for the UK.

How the **** can it have cost 430 million?! We're living in ridiculous times

Why did it cost anything at all? We have the infrastructure and all we had to do was promote what's already in place. Some cunt's made a fortune out of this, I hope we find out who it is
