He's been superb in (admittedly the very few) performances so far.

Looks like he's been part of the first team for years. Very sure that this lad will go on to play a lot of games for us.

      It's a funny old accent isn't it.

He's so chilled out though, even in his interviews, he just takes everything in his stride

Wonder if he's a boyhood Liverpool fan, not that it's a big deal if he's not like

Well done to the lad, deserves a regular starting place
Agreed, a real gem in the making, if he keeps his performences up as he has been doing of late well, the sky's the limit for the lad

            Kelly upbeat over Reds future

Liverpool rookie Martin Kelly is confident he has a long-term future in the first team.

Kelly, 20, looks likely to retain his place at right-back in the Barclays Premier League home match against Fulham on Wednesday evening.

He has already played all four fixtures under Kenny Dalglish - with Glen Johnson switching to the left - since the Scot became caretaker-manager and wants the run to continue.

Kelly said: "It has been good to play in the games. As a young player you want to play as much as you can and gain experience.
"To play in the Premier League is more than beneficial to me. Kenny Dalglish just wants me to go out there and show what I can do and push for a place all the time.

"You have to take your chance. Now I just need to keep the consistency going. It is a totally different game at right-back to centre-half but I have found it quite easy to adapt. You get more of the ball for a start."

            MORE ENJOYABLE
Dalglish, who stepped in after the departure of Roy Hodgson, saw his side win for the first time under his stewardship with a 3-0 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend.

Kelly has noticed a different atmosphere already around the club following the arrival of a Liverpool legend.

He said: "We have been a bit unlucky with results in the past. Hopefully they will now go our way. It is like having a 12th man with Kenny on the line encouraging us.

"We are doing a lot of football in training and that helps a lot. It is a bit more enjoyable as well, very competitive as everyone is fighting for a place in the team."

            NEW SIGNING
Dalglish is pleased with Kelly's progress.

"Martin's done very well for the club," said the Liverpool manager. "He's like a new signing for the club because that's four on the spin he's played now.

"It doesn't matter what age you are, if you are performing you'll have a chance of playing. He's certainly deserved his opportunities.

"He is getting a good bit of help from people around and about him. But it is impressive when you come into a team that isn't playing as well as it can and you play as well as he has done."

One bad mistake tonight but that will happen again as he develops. Key thing is he doesn't look remotely out of place.

Only towards the end, which was understandable given his experience, and the situation we'd got ourselves into.

I thought he was poor tonight. Had Glen Johnson made some of the mistakes that Kelly had made today, he'd be getting slaughtered.

And there were times he should have been pushing on but he was so far behind the defensive midfielders, they had nobody to pass to on the right when they got the ball

Srktel makes Kelly nervous. Move him out the way and put Carragher in there and he will be as solid as a cock
