Gerrard is strolling too with the man he's marking miles ahead of him before he starts to run.
In all fairness he doesn't look round once, so how can he be aware of the man being there?
No shout from Sterling presumably.
I'm not defending anyone here, just pointing out that a lot of our players are lazy and I think it's slightly unfair to pin Gerrard for not tracking Ledley there.
Edit: if anything.. Sterling is marking that man, he's the closest and can see him and he doesn't move.
GJ is shocking.....if he starts again when Manquillo or Moreno are on the bench, then i am finished with BR.
We gave Kelly to Palace for £2m. I would rather him play at RB to be honest. We also have Wisdom on loan at WBA - I would prefer to see him in place of Manquillo (and definately ahead of Glen Johnson).
Last season we were an awesome team. Losing Suarez was a big blow but for me we needed 3 squad players and one class replacement for Suarez. We have totally ****ed it up...

well that's what a defensive midfielder is suppposed to do, spot the danger and deal with it. gerrard must track the runs of midfielders into the area and cover the CB's back. He was caught out of position for their first and second goal. And if anyone of us would do this even at 5 a side we'd **** from team mates..

For me the second goal is mainly down to Lovren
He steps out of the width of the penalty area and if a centrehalf does that he should take the ball or the man (or both)
He then gets outmuscled so much so that once again he is not goalside (a common theme with him) and then promptly falls over
If I remember rightly Gerrard is actually level with the ball when it is cut-back for Ledley
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Yes, and he went to deal with the danger after Johnson let his man go and Lovren fell over, albeit slowly.
Sterling is marking Ledley, he can see him, he's the closest man to him. it's not all down to Gerrard..
If he's not marking Ledley, then he needs to give Gerrard a shout.

i dissagree, sterling is a winger his job is to mark the opposing full back. one can argue that allen should be covering if stevie gets pulled to one side, but that a different matter.
It's not all down to Gerrard. Nobody said it was. Mignolet, Johnson, Gerrard, Lovren Sterling all play a part. Gerrard as you say never looks around, he should do, that's his job be aware of what's going on, spot the danger. He should be off and running as soon as the ball goes over Johnsons head but he doesn't react until Lovren makes a tit of himself and by that time Ledley is away.
obviously lovren cocked it up, but a natural DM would be covering his back, and steve is not that, hence the problems.

we need to ship stevie up the pitch
Allen wasn't on the pitch at that point. And if Sterling is a winger whys he in central midfield? It's common sense to either shout and warn a player if someone is making a run in behind. It's even more common sense to track him if you can see that you're the closest, and you've seen him run infront of you.
Gerrard goes to fill the space vacated by Lovren.
What you're saying is that because Sterling naturally plays on the wing he should never track back?

I'm just pointing out that pinning it on Gerrard when Sterling hasn't even got a mention is a bit unfair. I agree that Gerrard could have done better but so could of Sterling, and I believe if Sterling had gone with Ledley he wouldn't have had a free shot on goal.

now i never said Sterling should never track back, but he has a different player and area to mark. yes he could have shouted, yes he could have tracked back, but to say our right winger should be tracking their AM to our penalty area whilst excusing the man who should actually be doing that is rather silly.
and no Gerrard did not run towards the space created by Lovrens fall, but went to the exact spot where he should have been, just way, way to slow.
pardon me, by that time Can came on to replace Allen, so that applies to him.
i know i've become fixated on Gerrerd's role recently, but i feel that playin that position he's one of our main problems.
