Nah, I'd sacrifice 4th for United winning not 19 before us.
      Oh I don't know.

Well in that phrasing I would want us to get fourth obviously, in the question you most likely mean I still want us to get fourth.

In our current situation I find it much more important for us to get back in to the CL and competing for the best players, than how many trophies another team have won, even if it's the mancs...

2 years straight out of the CL is quite a disturbing prospect IMO, and the reason why many players this summer would choose other clubs ahead of us. Also financially it would be great to be back in.

So even if it means the scum wins it I will take fouth for us any day. Also Chelsea are 10 points behind the scum, so they are no challenger anymore anyway, it will be city who have to challenge them.

Fernando Torres admits his old club Liverpool caught Chelsea by surprise on his debut on Sunday.

But Torres has vowed the Blues will still have a say in the Premier League title race.

The £50million striker's much-hyped first appearance in a blue shirt failed to live up to expectations at Stamford Bridge, where Torres was eventually replaced after 66 minutes as the Reds went on to win 1-0 through a goal from Raul Meireles.

Liverpool, who continue to improve under Kenny Dalglish following a fourth successive league victory, deployed three central defenders which limited the impact of Torres and Didier Drogba, who were supported by Nicolas Anelka.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has vowed to make the new system work, and Torres maintains the Blues will not be caught out again.

"It was very difficult, Liverpool played a good game, with three at the back," Torres told Chelsea TV.

"We were not expecting that and maybe they took advantage of that.

"I think the fair result was the draw, it was unfair to lose that game, but now we are looking forwards to the next game and will keep fighting until the end.

"There are a lot of points still to play (for)."

Apart from an early chance when he latched onto a stray pass from Maxi Rodriguez and then fired his 20-yard effort over the bar, and a close-range effort blocked by Jamie Carragher, Torres rarely troubled the Liverpool back-line.

The travelling supporters barracked their former Kop idol at every opportunity, and took great delight in his substitution - chanting "You should have stayed at a big club" when he sat down in the Chelsea dugout.

Torres preferred to look on the positive welcome he received from the Stamford Bridge faithful.

"Obviously everyone wants to win, especially if it is their first game at home, but I will still have very good memories about my reception here and want to thank all of the Chelsea fans for that nice reception, the plastic flag with my name on copied from the Liverpool banner was a great touch" he said.

"The result was not the best, but we have to keep going and fighting until the end."

I don't understand people burning his shirt but thanking him for doing the job he was paid to do is a little ridiculous
I'm not sure he shat on us at all. I suspect he's been on the brink of leaving for a while and has intimated it to the club over a period of time.

I also suspect that the timing of his transfer request was arranged in conjuction with the club to help with negotiations for his replacement. It also excludes him from recieving various loyalty/bonus payments.

I am sad that he's gone, I can't wish him any luck as he's gone to another EPL club, but I don't hate him for it. If he left Athletico then he was always capable of leaving us, those of us who put him on a pedestal as 'one of us' shoudn't persecute Torres for their own wishfull thinking. Suarez will probably want to move on too if things go well, as long as he doesn't lie to the club about it to engineer a cheap transfer then I wont hold a grudge about that either.

Maybe, but imo..he said things other players don't say or need to say, like Lfc is my English club, i honour my contracts, all at a time when rumours about him going were rife, and if as you say he probably intimated to the club he wanted out ages ago, why say these things only two weeks before handing in a transfer request ?

The way he did it stinks for me, he led the fans along just so HE could have a quiet life and work silently with the Chavs on his move away. imo. and all the while it went on he never hardly bothered putting a shift in for us, except of course against the club HE wanted to join, selfish ****, and all at a time when we needed him most, but it obviously suited HIS agenda for us to be ****e, and unworthy of HIS talents, according to...guess who...HIM!

There is so much we don't really know, I really don't see the point in getting wound up by rumours about football and the public statements (some of which are misreported anyway) of footballers. What Torres (or any other footballer) says doesn't really matter.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

There maybe little point in getting wound up, but are you saying you never do ? because i find that incredibly hard to believe that nothing any player says winds you up.

Come on, there must have been a few occasions where comments from a player has induced a few growls, maybe even the odd bark ?

                                Er, I'm trying to think...

Yes, I did get terribly wound up about Hodgson. That's an extra reason I couldn't stand him, he was making me give a sh*t about something sh*t happening that I didn't have any control over and that ultimately is only as important to me as I choose to make it.

It's not that things don't elicit an emotional reaction - it's that it's up to me to deal with that reaction, think about it, work through it. Other people, whether it's on the internet or in real life, aren't here to act as my own personal punchbags or shock absorbers.
