£2m pay off for not requesting a transfer FFS and £100k a week FFS

I don't understand how clubs deals with wages aren't structured in terms of performance, such as some kind of probationary period where by you get paid a basic salary, if you meet the agreed conditions you get the pay rise and bonus if not then you stay on the basic pay grade until the end of the season where you are allowed to leave for a set fee.

That way there is an incentive for the player to play well (pay rise and bonus) and the club isn't lumbered with an underperforming player on stupid wages that they can't get rid of, and the contract stops the club refusing to sell the player if an appropriate offer come in.
