It's simple. West Ham want a deal by the end of next week. Newcastle have until then to make a deal. They will have to match West Hams price, they'll only consider that if Carroll drops his wages.

Carroll knows LFC will never allow him to go to NUFC on a cheaper deal, LFC would rather keep him than lose face like that. It's a World Cup coming up, he will have to go. He's in the same position Owen was when he wanted to move to LFC, but ended up joining NUFC because Real called his bluff.

He'll be gone by end of next week.

Carroll to reject £15m West Ham move & fight for Liverpool future

ndy Carroll looks set to turn down a permanent £15 million move to West Ham after telling Liverpool he will fight for his place at Anfield, Goal understands.

The 24-year-old striker is ready to accept a role as a bit-part player at Liverpool next season in order to force his way into the side following a successful loan spell at Upton Park.

West Ham agreed a £15m deal with the Reds last week after Carroll scored seven goals while on loan in east London, but he is unsure about a move as he focuses on re-establishing himself at Anfield and earning a place in England's World Cup squad.

"Things haven't worked out for Andy at Liverpool but he went there with high hopes and isn't ready to throw in the towel just yet," a source told Goal.

"He enjoyed his time with West Ham but feels he has unfinished business at Anfield."

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers had hoped to cash in on Carroll to boost his transfer spending this summer, having only been given £20m by owners FSG to improve the squad that finished seventh in the Premier League table.

Carroll is also thought to be keen on a shock return to Newcastle. The Magpies, though, are not believed to be in the running for his signature, with bad blood from the original £35m transfer in 2011 meaning Liverpool are reluctant to negotiate a return.

Carroll faces up to four months on the sidelines with a heel injury, and has withdrawn from the England squad for the upcoming friendlies against the Republic of Ireland and Brazil.

Any ideas how long he has left on his contract?

Rather than sell him to Newcastle for the £7m-£8m they want to pay, I'd keep him if he doesn't go to West Ham. Newcastle are taking the p*ss like they did last summer over his loan. Usually, you could accept a club trying to lowball you. But when it's the club you signed the player from for £35m only wanting to give you £7m odd for that same player, you need to draw a line.

Alternatively, send him on loan again. No problems with Carroll. Not his fault we paid £35m for him. You can understand he wants to go back to Newcastle, but they need to get real

IMO it is down to Carroll not wanting to put in a transfer request.

I really hope this isn't true. We need his 15 mil fee to re-invest in the squad. If this transfer doesn't go through and he is a bench player next season then his value will only drop further

I'm more inclined to believe that it's because he wants to go to Newcastle that he is holding out on the West Ham offer. Newcastle will drag it out all summer. Oh and it will affect us buying players as the £15m was earmarked for new signings

I don't believe West Ham would have agreed a deal with us if they hadn't talked with the player and the player said that he want to stay at West Ham.

Not sure. David Gold even said it's 60:40 at the moment that he will sign. They probably want an answer from him either way. Wouldn't make any odds to Liverpool if he was appearing to be asking for a move or if Liverpool were seen to be willing sellers. Everyone knows he's not in Rodgers' plans so, it's clear who is wanting out/doing the selling.

I believe he is holding out for Newcastle who have every intention of dragging it out through the summer. It's up to Liverpool to convince him I guess that he needs to take the West Ham offer because they won't sell to Newcastle for half the value

He signed a five and half year contract January 2011 so three years left on the contract.

If West Ham for example offer him £50k a week in wages then we are talking about big money that we would have to pay Carroll if he don't put in a transfer request.

He is on £90k a week allegedly so we would have to pay him around £6.2m plus the % of the £15m transfer fee.

Why would he put in a transfer request if we're already willing to sell him?
