maybe. it's the damn price which was hilarious. what were kenny and comolli thinking, jesus but I think that, i.e. Bebe's transfer (MUFC) should be considered as equal to carroll's. bebe was/is actually noone, and was overpaid. 7mil is hilarious price for someone who indeed had zero games, and was bought due to his pre-season performances (lol), but of course media has forgotten that.

He's nowhere near as bad as so many are making out. £35m was £15m more than what we should have paid. He had one full season with us and that was disrupted with injuries. The price tag has weighed down better players than Carroll. Its obvious now with Rodgers and the way he wants to play that Carroll can't come back. That doesn't mean he wouldn't be useful for other teams with players that can cross a ball. Again at West Ham he's been disrupted by injuries, it happens, again its not his fault. When he's had a run of games this season he's looked really useful. If Kenny had stayed he may well of had a good second season for us. We'll never know. He has the attributes and he's still relatively young. By some of your comments you'd think he was the second coming of Tony Cascarino. He hasn't slagged us off and wants to play. I won't knock him for that when the game is full of leeches happy to sit and collect their wages.

I agree with Bob.

He's worth around £20m. Just be thankful he's not a **** who will be happy to sit on their arse for the full duration of the contract and leave for nothing.

And looks like we'll lose £20m. How much did Chelsea lose on Shevchenko? The full fee. Carroll may have been the stupidest purchase, but he's not the worst.

We know what type if player he is. Of those types, he's probably the best around, with plenty of time to improve other aspects of his game. He'll never fit our style so needs to go, but under other managers, in other systems, he could do really well - especially if he finally sorts out his fitness.

I guarantee that once we sell him he'll stay injury free and look an absolute monster of a player. But all things considered, we are bang right to sell him whilst we can still get a decent wedge.

Look at players bought for 15m, Carroll stands out like a sore thumb next to most of them.

Danny, Suarez and Torres cost around 20m, suggesting Carroll in that price range is unrealistic.

Not when he's an England international and the selling club didn't want or need to sell unless we bid more than he's actual value. We all know you pay more for english players. So what. He's a good player.

He is not mate, his a Wimbledon of the 80s style player, just with terrible positional sense.

Being English and an international just means teams will pay more and happily get ripped off for a very mediocre player.

clearly. so there is no point me continuing otherwise it looks like I'm his biggest fan where in reality I'm really not.

The truth is he isn't **** and isn't great, he's somewhere inbetween the two. Like the majority of pro footballers, I think you're basing most of your assesment on the season he played for us where I think it was plainly clear to anyone the price tag put so much pressure on his shoulders that he was literally weighed down. To ignore this when we've seen throughout history, the affect the weight of expectation can have on a players whole game is foolish. Throw in the injuries and it was understandable he struggled. At £35m you would expect a complete player granted, but the idea was he would be here for 5 seasons and who grow into a beast of a player. It didn't work out. Lets move on.
