Just as he signed Jimmy Carter but also Barnes and Beardsley.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
In hindsight it was a catastrophic error by FSG to put him in charge of transfer policy, no matter how big his guns. The bar ban alone should have deterred them.
Their vetting process/structure wasn't properly in place when they took over. Marky had a strong reputation and to be fair to him, barring that escapade at the bar, he had a flawless record. But they did rectify their mistake by sacking him just before they got rid of Dogleash, sowing the seeds for Ernesto "Che" RodgeVara's revolution.
Is it that unusual for a big signing to leave after 3 seasons (even if one was 1/2) when it hasn't worked out? I'm not so sure.
Maybe if they'd played for the club non stop though, had chances to play and it hadn't worked out, they'd be more likely to come to a deal on what's left on their contract, with AC he was pretty much dumped as soon as BR came in, so maybe he and his advisors are less likely to comply with anything at all that saves LFC money ?

He signed a US president? That should be cause for celebration.
Depends on the president. And a whole team of them would end up very badly balanced with only Obama and Roosevelt (FD) and a few others able to line up anywhere near the centre of the pitch. The left hand side would be empty.

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll could pocket the bulk of the £15 million transfer fee on offer if he signs for West Ham. The player, who is expected to sign his new contract shortly at Upton Park shortly, has already seen his agents negotiate an uplift in his wages from a reported £80,000 a week to just short of £100,000 , but a much bigger pay day is in the offing.
The player still has just over three years left on a contract he signed just over two years ago and as he did not ask for a transfer is entitled to be paid up in full – if the figure of £80,000 is correct, and there is no cancellation clause, then that amounts to an eye- watering £12.4 million. It is not what the player is demanding, but it could be what he is legally entitled too.
In addition, his agents will ensure that he receives a portion of the £15 million transfer fee. In practice this means at least 10 per cent and although it is usually paid as a signing on fee by the buying club, it can be given as a loyalty bonus by the seller. The two figures, if paid, would mean that virtually all the transfer funds Liverpool receive would be paid to the player, though they would, of course, save a similar amount on his wages.
However, paying the full amount is highly unusual, otherwise the seller could simply keep the player in the reserves and be no worse off.
Generally, the selling club and player come to agreement over the amount of money that will be paid to the player to cancel the contract – usually around a third of the sum due, which in Carroll’s case would be around £4.5m – but in the case of Carroll the club are entering new territory; it is virtually unheard of for a club to ditch a marque signing with such a long period outstanding on his contract. link
A deal will be struck, I read somewhere that about 1/3 is the norm, so big Andy will walk away with about 5m and a contract signed to keep his mouth shut.
