to be fair clevely had a season on loan with wigan and looked good and got good reviews. once shelvey plays enough games and does the business people will take notice. at the moment all people see a bald gangly cunt.

He is going to be a beast of a player and with him at the club and being so young i am less worried about gerrard retiring in a couple of seasons time.

Big fan of Shelvey. I think he'll develop into an excellent player for us. Cole was saying he reckons he's captain material in a few years time

Think Jonjo is quality, absolute steal at the price we paid.

Needs to cut out his rash tackling but that will come with experience.

United fans I've talked to or read comments from all seem to think Cleverly is underrated He's 2-3 years older than Shelvey too. He might be a little further developed but I just don't see it with him at all.. End up at Sunderland or whoever one of bacon face's servants is managing in a few seasons.

I'm a massive fan of Shelvey. The progress he made in the last 2 seasons has been incredible.

these younger squad players who are looking to step up to first team regulars need to show some graft and determination. they need to prove themselves and show the manager they cannot be overlooked.

                  shelvey is now doing this.

there is an excellent side by side comparison here with henderson, although hendo had been bought in and has come with more expectation.
shelvey is grabbing his chance. henderson is, embarrassingly, letting his chance slip away.

with a little more maturity and experience im sure shelvey will become one of our main players, maybe the next stevie g. once he reads the game better and times his tackles better he will be a cracker. he will also have the benefit of some hard working, skilful players around him, so this will help his development immensely.

He needs to improve his consistency! He was garbage against Hearts but awesome against City!

might have been due to playing with a group of poor players

No, he was giving the ball away immensely cheaply. Misplaced passes all over the shop...

Spearing, Henderson and Adam were his passing options.

...who were running around like headless chickens. must have been a little frustrating for shelvey trying to measure a pass for someone who had know idea where they were going to run to
shelvey was actually in danger of doing a gerrard, bombing around, trying to cover for less intelligent players.

I think he came leaps and bounds in last little while that even Rodgers fancing him over Hendo.

In fact he is the first in the packing order coming from the bench which is not bad for 20-year old player

                              Far from it.

He can be a lose cannon especially with his tackling but his passing, vision and willingness to track back and help the defense is getting better and better.

                              Aye.

One of the worst games I have seen him play but the consistency will come with experience.

He needs to play regular football and it will be interesting to see how much playing time he'll get this year if we stay injury free.

Thought I'd bump this. He's going to be really important this season. I get the feeling that Brendan is going to have to move Gerrard in to the front 3 in order to boost creativity and to cut out the silly mistakes that seem to be dogging his game at the moment.

I'd love to see Allen Sahin & Shelvey behind Gerrard Suarez and Sterling at the moment. I think that's our best front 6
