I think Shelvey shows all the signs of a top player. He may not be as athletic as Gerrard, but he does have a similar eye for a pass (or a hollywood pass).

I have not written Henderson off yet either. He is still young. Remember We were all sitting round muttering about how Lucas was not really any good at anything, and then he suddenly steps into the holding role. I dont think Lucas is the best tackler, but he reads the game, and gets into the right positions to break up play. No reason why Henderson cant learn to do at least this.

Stevie at 20 had that special something about him. He became the player that he was (and no longer is) because he was also a superb natural athlete, I don't think Shelvey is that far behind him in terms of talent but I'm not sure he has the same athletic potential.

I've not seen anything to suggest Shelvey can be as good as Gerrard but would gladly eat my words if it happened.

He is a talent though and he can be a good squad player for us for years to come. I think we never should have got rid of Danny Murphy personally...Shelvey kind of reminds me of him.

Don't think he'll ever be as good as Gerrard. Comparing him to arguably our greatest ever player is a bit OTT, IMO.

I think Shelvey has the makings to be better than Murphy. But no way will he be as good as Gerrard and it's unfair on him even to make the comparison.

FFS also was playing 5-a-side with a few mates and some other people I didn't really know after the Young Boys match. Noticed one guy wearing a Liverpool shirt and we had a wee chat about the game before-hand.

I was praising Shelvey, and this guy was not impressed by him at all. Seems to think he's average and the only reason he looked any good was because it was young guys we were playing. Then we got on to Sterling and he said he's not been good enough. He said he's too lightweight and won't cut it in the EPL.

Sometimes I wonder if people watch the same matches as me or if they are just taking some ****e pundits opinion and running with it.

Wasn't he 20 when he won the treble? We all knew he was going to be world class and he was a very very special player.
