Jon-GO (Geddit?!) Shelvey: Stoke planning swoop for out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder
And Liverpool are also looking at Sunderland's No. 1 Simon Mignolet to replace Pepe Reina this summer
Jonjo Shelvey could be on his way out of Anfield – with Stoke plotting a swoop in the summer, writes the Sunday People .
The ex-Charlton *prospect has recently been frozen out of the first-team by Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers and sources say he will be allowed to leave for £7million.
Potters manager Tony Pulis sent a two-man delegation to check on Shelvey in a reserve match last week.
Pulis sees the 21-year-old midfielder as an ideal *replacement for another former Anfield star, Charlie Adam, who looks set to leave the Britannia which would create a vacancy in the squad and on the payroll that Shelvey could fill.
Liverpool are struggling to qualify for Europe which could trigger a move for long-serving keeper Pepe Reina, with Sunderland No.1 Simon Mignolet on Rodgers’ radar.
He is convinced that Spanish international Reina, who has been below par this season, will quit Anfield this summer and wants the Black Cats’ Belgian keeper as his replacement.
Mignolet, 24, had to pledge his future to Sunderland last week after his agent hinted that he would like to join a bigger club.
But Liverpool are keen and may send Sunderland old boy Jordan Henderson in the *opposite direction to clinch the deal.
Henderson cost the Kop a staggering £17m and has shown some promise lately.
Rodgers would be reluctant to let the midfielder go and certainly not on the cheap.
Rodgers also admires Michel Vorm at old club Swansea and has monitored Ali Al Habsi at Wigan.
There are other foreign keepers *being studied, but the Anfield club would prefer *Premier League experience.
Liverpool expect Reina to be a target for bids in the next window and have been *actively looking at replacements.
I wouldn't be too sorry to see Jonjo leave, though that article seems like conjecture and guesswork.
It seems that if you don't think a player is good enough, you get slated by some posters just because he wears the red shirt.
For me, he doesn't even show the promise Danny Murphy had when he was coming through. Danny had composure and would play it simple, he had class from set pieces and would often put himself in decent goal scoring positions - Jonjo charges round like he's read on Twitter that LFC fans loved him seeing red mist and having a go at Ferguson, so he seems to have played like that ever since.
He seems brainless to me. Massively inconsistent (arguably understandable) but not really showing enough in his supposed strengths to warrant picking him ahead of anyone else we have in central midfield.
Hypothetically speaking, if it was my decision and I got a concrete 7mil bid for him I'd sell. He still has a good chance of making it at this level but we don't have the time to let him develop, they're are so many young talents on the fringes and I'd rather Henderson stayed, also I reckon coutinho/ susos long term future is at the top of the midfield which spells bad luck for shelvey.
I don't hate shelvey but 7mil would give us a fantastic return of which we could use to bring in a more experienced midfielder.... I hear keisuke Honda is on a free in the summer, he supposedly has refused to extend his contract, only seen him in a few japan games but was/is still highly rated?

I agree with all of that. There are far better prospects at the club already. £7m seems a decent amount in principle, if you gauge it against the amount we paid for Coutinho.
Really wouldn't want us to sell Shelvey. He has the makings of a very good footballer, he is just young and naive. He makes bad decisions on the ball, we need to help him by loaning him out for 6 months so that he can get regular game time
