It's a shame Kenny and Comolli didn't rock up somewhere else. We'd definitely have got more out of them for Shelvey and Carroll, even Spearing

I need to sit down. We've actually sold a player for money and in a deal where we don't have to pay their wage at a new club or pay them off a stupid amount

          Unheard of

Jonjo Shelvey £6m Swansea transfer agreed by Liverpool
            3 Jul 2013 11:52

Midfielder travelling to South Wales today to finalise move

Jonjo Shelvey is set for a move to Swansea City after Liverpool FC agreed a deal worth £6m for the midfielder.

The 21-year-old was expected at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday afternoon, where he will undergo a medical and discuss personal terms with the Welsh club.

A deal should be completed in the next 24 hours.

A number of other Premier League clubs, including Norwich City and newly-promoted Crystal Palace, had expressed an interest in the former Charlton Athletic man, with Palace lodging a bid worth around £5m earlier this week.

But Swansea's eagerness to push through a deal looks to have won the day.

Swans boss Michael Laudrup is a fan of the England cap, with the club keen to add young, British talent to their squad.

It is understood that the fee for Shelvey is dependant on a series of performance-related add-ons, with Liverpool hoping to eventually receive £6m from the transfer.

Shelvey made a total of 69 appearances for the Reds after joining in 2010, scoring seven times. He made his senior international debut in November of last year.

Kinda gutted to see him go.

My Elderly Uncle is a Charlton fan (Born and raised in the area) and I used JonJo as a reason to connect with him and chat. Ill be sad to see the conversations go

From a purly footballing point of view, I am half gutted he is going too. Thought he was a real rough diamond, someone that with a bit of work could be decent I feel. Shame.
                *Except Michael, who died.

An exciting day ahead for you then. You must be sitting by the TV, SSN on, champagne at the ready.

                  I'm almost excited for you.

It's a great move for him - he should get plenty of playing time in a good footballing side. It's a pretty good move for us too - he's doesn't make a good sub and £6m is pretty decent money.

That said, I think he's extremely talented and wouldn't surprise me to see him develop into a fantastic attacking midfielder in a couple of years.

If there was a £8m buy-back clause that would be perfect.

I can't see us wanting to buy him back although I do reckon he'll move for £15m+ in the next few years. Just not to us.
