I love the 'most consistent players this season' comment, given that two months ago (and 7 months into the season) he was apparently pants.

I had to resist the temptation to name and shame anyone.

      Has anyone seen Craig today?

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

a comment on current form is not necessarily in opposite to a general view of Kuyt though, it's taking things out of context IMO. I truly think Kuyt have been one of our best players the last couple of months having linked up well with Suarez, but I still hold the position that he overall is not what we need offensively and especially against deep lying teams.

I thought of that Marr/Giggs juxtaposition too.

EDIT: I meant as I wrote my previous post. I'm not trying to take the credit for the banner in the i.

I genuinely can’t think of anyone we could realistically sign that I would want ahead of Dirk and think that with a quality left winger giving us an attacking quartet of DK, AC, LS and new player would be a match for any team.

Ha ha, after I hit send I was wondering if you’d even know what I was on about or just thought I was giving you some friendly career advice.

Here's the excellent PC Plod's 1st post on the matter:

It'd certainly be interesting to see how many of his goals come late in games and how many are decisive.

I love Kuyt as abloke and think he's important for the mentality of the squad. I wonder if keeping him more as a utilty topside squaddie would reejuvunate him somewhat. He expends so much energy it's gotta catch up with him with him being 30 now.
                  3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I think i read recently that Gerrard is 23/30 on penos. But most of those 7 misses have been earlier in his career, though he missed at West Ham (last season, i think?) before netting the rebound. That was his last miss from the spot, i think.

I believe he missed at Blackburn this season.

Good shout. But was it deliberate?

Personally i think it would be a disgrace to take Kuyt off penalty duty at the expense of Gerrard.

Whether Gerrard missed more penalties when he younger than he does now is completely irrelevant, he still missed them and you're either a good penalty taker or your not.

Kuyt's penalties are more often than not out of reach of the the keeper, he's pretty ruthless with them... whereas with Gerrard, there's a bigger a worry he'll miss.
That penalty at Blackburn was simply awful and even his one at Old Trafford in the 4-1 win wasn't convincing. VDS very nearly kept it out.

I would prefer to keep Kuyt on penalties, but wouldn’t exactly call it a 'disgrace' if our first choice penalty taker returned to penalty duties when fit.
