Jan Molby believes Dirk Kuyt would get into any team in the world - including Barcelona.

Pep Guardiola's men earned their status as Europe's top side with a 3-1 Champions League final triumph over Manchester United last month - and some even believe they are the best team in the history of club football.

With Xavi, David Villa, Lionel Messi, Pedro and Andres Iniesta occupying the forward positions, it's difficult to see where ANY player would fit in.

But Molby - who scored 61 goals in 292 games for Liverpool during the 1980s and early 1990s - is adamant Kuyt would be on the teamsheet.

Speaking to LFC TV, the Dane said: "As a player you look at someone and think 'Would I like to play against him?' And no, I wouldn't, because Dirk pesters and he's at you non-stop. He's running, he's working, he's closing you down.

"I think the training (under Kenny Dalglish) has really benefitted him. There are a lot more touches for individual players and Dirk's first touch has improved because of that.

"I always say this about him - and I mean it: he would walk into any team in the world. Because of the things he gives you.

"He wouldn't be their best footballer but I think he would play in Barcelona's team."

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I read and re-read this, went off to other threads and came back, i just could'nt get it at all, i was looking at the kiddy kits they are wearing and wondering what the hell is he on about, preparing them well but especially the one on the right i even thought it was about the poster you replied to at one stage, and that him saying 'keep on pumping Dirk' had something to do with it...and that Dirks lad 'Jay' had the look of a little un taking a dump in his nappy, and that was a reference to 'keep on pumping Dirk' .

Then it hit me......sooooooo obvious now i think, i mean any one with no hair get's linked with the poor lad, how the hell did i not see it!

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                    love that banner..

re the dirk kuyt for barca story - i've only just seen that...

Barca have become my adopted 2nd team over the past two years

Of course, he wouldn't get in the starting XI - but they do lack a little bit of depth and he'd be a good addition to them as something different - if they added an extra centre back or two, someone like kuyt and a 'bigger' man up top striker like they had with Zlatan - their squad would be much better for it

Dirk Kuyt has revealed how one of his finest moments in a Liverpool shirt could easily have seen a different name etched into Merseyside derby folklore.

The Holland international struck a brace of penalties when the Reds triumphed 2-1 at Goodison back in 2007, beginning the No.18's prolific run of form against the Blues.

However, it could all have turned out differently had the pre-match plan gone ahead as proposed by boss Rafael Benitez.

Kuyt told the Official LFC Magazine: "In my second year as a Liverpool player, it was a really tough game and the breaks went our way. I remember Rafa read out his list of penalty takers before the game and I was second choice. Andriy Voronin was first on the list.

"When the referee gave the first penalty, Andriy came to me and asked whether I wanted it because he didn't feel too confident. I said: 'No problem...I'll take it.'

"I was so happy to score the first one and when the second one came around, I didn't hesitate. You know that if you miss it, you probably draw the game but it feels like a loss because it's in the last minute.

"To score the winner; it was one of the best feelings I've experienced in my Liverpool career."

Kuyt has now scored five times against our derby rivals and the Dutchman admits it's one of the fixtures he most looks forward to.

"It's a game I really enjoy. As a football player you always look forward to the biggest games," he said.

"You enjoy the atmosphere, the pressure and the expectation. It's why you become a professional. Liverpool v Everton is one of the biggest games of the season and when you win, especially away at Goodison Park, it is one of the best feelings.

"The thing I really like about the Merseyside derby is that the game is fast and physical and you quite often have one or two strong tackles on the pitch.

"But at the end of the game, the players shake hands. My brother-in-law is a big Ajax fan who was there at Goodison in 2007 and he too commented on how, despite the outcome of the match, both sets of supporters generally got along quite well."
Didn't Voronin once bottle taking a corner in a European game for us too?
