He didn't get called any names!!!!!!!! he was just booed FFS!!!!!!!! Everyone knows Neymar is a petulant little kid, he probably thought he was getting booed because he was black cause he doesn't see what he does as wrong.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

A banana was thrown on to the pitch towards Brazil striker Neymar during Sunday's 2-0 friendly win over Scotland at the Emirates Stadium.

The 19-year-old, who scored both goals, had been regularly jeered by Scotland fans unhappy at what they considered his feigning of injury in the early stages.

He said he did not see the banana being thrown but saw it on the ground next to him as he was near the touchline.

"It's sad that these things happen but I'm not going to worry about it too much," Neymar told Reuters.

"It was a marvellous day and certainly one to remember."

Brazil coach Mano Menezes said he had not seen the incident but that if it had happened it was "lamentable."

Midfielder Lucas Leiva, who plays in England for Liverpool, told Brazil's Globo TV Sports channel: "There is no room for racism nowadays.

"Europe, which is considered the first world, is the place where this thing happens more. Today, colour and race shouldn't mean anything."

Last week former Brazil defender Roberto Carlos had a banana thrust towards him as he prepared to play for Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala against Zenit St Petersburg.

I find the notion that Scotland disgraces itself in reference to fan behaviour from an England fan ****ing hypocritical. Short memories some of you. In no way am I condoning racist behaviour of any kind whatsoever, its disgusting and I hate it, but I object to the glee England fans display when they see anyone else behaving in a less than perfect manner.

Brazil striker Neymar claimed after Sunday's friendly against Scotland that he had been subjected to racist abuse.

Neymar scored both goals in the encounter at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium to secure a 2-0 victory for Brazil.

Having opened the scoring just before half-time, he doubled Brazil's lead with a 77th-minute penalty after being fouled by Charlie Adam.

But after the final whistle he told Brazilian television channel Sportv that while he had been preparing to take the spot-kick he had been racially abused.

The channel reported that a banana was thrown at him toward the end of the second half from a section of the crowd mostly populated by Brazil fans.

"They were jeering me a lot, even when I was about to kick the penalty," Neymar told Sportv.

"The entire stadium was jeering. This atmosphere of racism is totally sad. We leave our country to play here and something like this happens.

"It's sad. I'd rather not even talk about it, to keep the subject from escalating."
            Stamped out

Scotland supporters had jeered the Santos striker following a first-half clash with midfielder Scott Brown.

Neymar's on-field treatment after the apparently innocuous incident held up play and he was then slow in making his way to the sidelines as the referee tried to restart play.

"The reason Neymar was booed was because we believed he was feigning injury during the course of the game," said Hamish Husband, spokesman for Scotland fans' group Association of Tartan Army Clubs.

"Racism has no place within the Tartan Army and if it did exist it would be stamped out immediately as we are self policing.

"We felt he was feigning injury and any suggestion of racism amongst our supporters is absolute tosh."

Husband added that Scotland fans had previously reported a supporter at Glasgow's Hampden Park stadium to the Scottish Football Association for racist abuse.

"We accepted that Brazil played us off the park and we applauded them for the quality of their football at the end of the game," Husband said. "We would not tolerate it if it existed within our ranks."

            Lamentable

Brazil coach Mano Menezes and Scotland's Craig Levein both said they did not see the incident.

"I did not see that," Menezes said. "If it happened, it is lamentable, but we have not had confirmation of that event."

Sportv reported that Brazil midfielder Lucas Leiva picked up the banana from the pitch.

"There is no more space for racism in the world," Lucas told Sportv. "They say it's the first world here in Europe, but it's where it happens the most. That has to change. Everybody is equal today. It's a matter of respect."

Some over sensitive people on here. Nothing wrong with the thread and the sad fact is that in London 2011 we still have incidents of racism at a football match.

Clearly a minority but then it is always the case - the idiotic minority tarnish the reputation of the majority.

More is expected of England than Scotland. I know there is the age old business of hyping the team beyond belief but at least it's better than at the start of this match where the commentators basically said that Scotland can learn from a beating before the game began!

Once again, i have to post these gems from England's brave:

“They were booing on the national anthem — the players were very pumped up, singing very loud and obviously proud,” said Terry.
“When you are hearing that, you are pumped up even more. It certainly makes you pump your chest out even more and sing even louder. I thought we started that way as well. We were very positive and got two early goals that we deserved.”

Why are the Scots getting so defensive? Everything I read in here was a finger pointed at the minority not the majority, no need to throw **** at each other.

I honestly don't see any 'glee'. No-one here has short memories, and no-one here has claimed England fans are saints. I'm not even an England fan and I'm sure the same goes for loads of others here. If anything it seems the Scots here are getting rrrrrrrrrrrrather touchy and defensive about it, which is kind of understandable as it's, as ever, a minuscule minority of cunts who spoil it for everyone.

What's the big problem with that? Both anthems were booed, the two sides are going to play best friends just for the sake of looking mature.

It's the fact that Shaggy and Rowan were gleefully telling everyone that that Scot's are a disgrace and they can't act properly. It was 1 fan out of 53,000 is there any prove there was a banana thrown at all?? Why wasn't it picked up by sky???? Sounds a bit like the story Everton were trying to spin by saying one of there fans was murdered before the derby. This story = no story
