I don't have an unswerving belief that my opinions are always right, relevant or even noteworthy.Originally posted by little dave hedgehog View Postwell, it is and it isn't. if we agree that finding swearing unnacceptable is passe and stupid, then punishing wazza for swearing on tv is the wrong thing to do, whatever we might feel about enjoying it when he gets punished for anything. the way to bring society forward is to seize on these opportunities to show people how ridiculous and many cases how hypocritical they're being by holding fast to these stodgy ideas.
i think he shouldn't be punished, and i think that because i think punishing people for swearing is wrong. qed.
Swearing on TV isn't allowed before 9pm so that's that.

The players get paid millions and are idols for millions of youngsters.
They know that the youngsters will act like them when they play. If Rooney for example swear and don't get punished then a lot of youngsters will do the same.
If they don't do something about it then a lot of referees that is refereeing games at youth level will get a lot of problems.
If they want to show that it is not ok to swear then they must start showing that at the highest level first. Then the other leagues will follow, from the championship to youth level football.
The youngsters will then know that it is not ok.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

I can't believe people think there is any defence.
I was listening to the morons on 5Live. Mark 'Git' Chapman was arguing it's the fault of the media and that fans are just as and so that's OK.
Chapman, Claridge, Motson and some journo - not a braincell between them..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

But Rooney does that every gameOriginally posted by Rudo View PostLol as Oliver Holt said in his colomn today, that comparison is facile.
Drogba like Rooney swore into a tv camera but he also confronted the referee, jabbed his finger at his face, shouted abuse, and had to be restrained by security guards.
