except that it's all the same insulting banter. bias against black people, gay people, transgendered people... it's not any different. i don't see why insulting any one group is better than insulting any other group because there is zero difference in whether it's right or wrong no matter which minority you want to have this conversation about

I still won't have a bad thing said about Fowler. Nah, seriously, it's the first part of the article that is out of order.

I don't think what Fowler said was particularly cuntish or vicious, it's the ribbing from his team mates in the early days that I don't like at all. Not needed.

Ok, so if said friend who accidently did/said something a bit feminine, and i.....in jest implied my mate was a 'big girl' instead of gay, that would be ok ? Or is it wrong to imply being a girl is a bad thing too ?

I wasn't a member at the time, but if I had of been I'd have been willing to put money on 'wankstand' not lasting too long.

              Poor wankstand, still on holiday.

Though I don't approve of mocking anybody other than mancs, I do think there is some distinction between mocking for things within someone's control such as their attire/beliefs/choice of football team, and things that are innate, such as race or gender. Now whether trannies, or even homosexuality fits neatly into one of these categories is another matter.

I think that a this is a big problem in football; that the game as a whole is in the dark ages when it comes to homosexuality, hence why there are very few (probably no) high profile openly gay footballers. You only have to look at the reactions of fans to rumours of Ashley Cole or Sol Campbell being gay.

But it's not just the fans, in 2002 Scolari basically said he would have thrown a player out of the team if he found out he was gay.

Incidents like this show how difficult it would be for a player to be openly gay, and highlight the homophobic nature of the game.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'd way prefer someone to call me a ****ing fag rather than elbow me in the face.

What Le Saux did was far worse.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

And in fairness, Fowler started it with the bending over malarky in front of Le Saux.

Fag refers to Harley drivers, not gays.
