Aquilani in La Gazzetta dello Sport:

"I'm waiting for Liverpool to decide on the identity of their new coach and reorganise themselves ... Then we will have to meet in order to figure out their plans ... The only thing I can do is make the right decision ... For me, it is important to have the opportunity to make a contribution, to play well and regularly" ...

Why are people going on about this guy, he is an injury prone, light weight, cant play 1 month solid waste of space.

because he's better than the other players we have?

I don't think he is really. Not in the PL anyway. Maybe he'd do better under rodgers. Maybe we'll find out, who knows.

When he actually played and had a run of games, he was one of our better players. There were around 7 or so games he was very decent. He was injured before that, had issues, then the season ended. I really can't justify the lack of patience with this guy. Yes, in general this thing has been a **** up, but clearly he's been short changed. The way people speak of him is as he was horrible, he has a good number of assists and showed more promise than a he gets credit for. I'd definitely have him in the squad ahead of Adam, Spearing, Cole, and Henderson.

I have a feeling he would work well in a Brendan Rodgers side. Lucas, Gerrard, Aquilani could be his Britton, Sigurdsson and Allen.

Because he has proven he can hold onto the ball with some composure, pass it well and set up goals (even in this team). He's an international player in one of the better international teams and has played in the Champions League in a number of seasons. His pedigree and quality is better than a number of the below average options we have whom play in the middle of the park.

                      Well said ...

Aquilani definitely has better tactical and technical attributes than the players we have been using in the creative central midfield role over the last 2 seasons ... Putting him next to Lucas in Rodgers' system would bring great benefits to our overall play ...

He was extremely meh, but I accept he might not have been fully fit. Dwelt on the ball too long before moving it on, got shoved off the ball at lot and never even tried to make a tackle. He made some very nice through-balls and some nice one touch flicks, but overall he was no better than Adam or Henderson for us. If he wasn't Italian, the rose tinted specs would come off imo.

He was coming from a potentially career ending ankle injury ... Come the end of the season, he was much more confident, and has had some remarkable performances ... He was definitely our best player on the pitch against Atletico Madrid in the Europa League semi-final ...

I must admit that I have watched quite a few of his games and Juventus, and he was their best player alongside Krasic, but the team was struggling in general under Del Neri, so Aquilani's good performances went mostly unnoticed by our fans, even though he was recalled for the Italian NT ...

AC Milan was definitely not the right place for him, since they have mostly used him on the right of the midfield 3 in their Christmas tree formation, and that is not his best position ... Still, he did pretty well for them, even though he would have been much better if they have played him in the center, where he is much more influential ...

He can obviously play in the Italian league, but fundamentally, I think the PL moves too quickly and is too physical for him.

Exactly what part of the English game is too quick or too physical for him?
