I can only really see two solutions for Aqualani, he agrees to tear up his contract with us and leaves with us not paying him off or he is sent out on loan again with the team loaning him picking up his full wages.

Aye, he wants to have his cake and eat it. If he's desperate to leave he can easily do so (and there are clear mechanisms to let him do so now he's in to his final two years). He can either pay up his contract and invoke Webster or he can make it clear that he'll take a substantial wage cut that would enable another team in Italia to sign him on. Easy peasy.

Or he can come, play and be part of the revolution (although not as number 9)

I'd have thought that a player who has lost fair chunks of his career to date through injury wouldn't want to be sitting around with us as a squad player or worse when fully fit.

If he wants to play and play for Milan rather than any old italian side that ends up coming in for him then he'll walk away without his pay off.

Players are professionals and they signed a legally binding contract and I would never let them go just because they are home sick or want to play someplace else unless it makes perfect business sense.

We are not what we used to be so until we become once again powerhouse personally I wouldn't use "it is pride to play LFC etc" as an excuse to let someone go.

Threaten to keep him in this country (away from his family) for two years or risk financial penalties. If he refuses to play or train with the reserves then we fine him. If we fine him enough we can claw some money back that we are paying.
