I dont think its anything to do with that, hes definitely been homesick

His missus never settled here, she headed straight back to Italy after a couple of months of being here

He naturally wanted to follow her

People continue to make excuses for him but imo his failure is solely down to him

Couldn't be arsed searching but I'm pretty sure we heard identical quotes last year.

Means sweet **** all at this stage, IMO of course.

He, and Borini, will have a compatriot at the club which can only be a good thing. Quite happy to see a few Italians here rather than just one. They can cry for their mummies together

I hope we keep hold of him - big fan of Aquilani! I think he could really thrive in Rodgers' system.

He's better than 6 million anyway! Keep him till Christmas! And then assess our options.

The pre-season will show Aquilani to be a player Rodgers needs (one of our best players last pre-season). I think the only concern is whether he wants to be here.

apparently he's just invested heavily in a ice cream parlour in naples.

The main question mark with him in terms of fitting our system is his work without the ball I would think. If he stays and gets that right then I think he could well solve a lot of the problems we have in terms of creative use of the ball an on the ball control.

Wonder if he was ever discussed as part of the Borini deal?

I would have thought more of the problem is the time he needs pm the ball and the ease which he was dispossessed when he was here.

Although both of the above could be down to lack of match practise

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been forced to delay making a decision on Alberto Aquilani’s Anfield future.
Rodgers, who takes his players to North America on a pre-season tour on Monday, is still waiting to see Aquilani in action after the 28-year-old Italian spent last week on the treatment table. The club are hopeful Aquilani will be on the plane on Monday when Liverpool leave to play games in Toronto, Boston and Baltimore.

I don't think I had the same damning assessment of him in his first spell with us. Although I would imagine that the time on the ball will be key to what we are trying to do. It would depend what you mean with the last part - if he's moving the ball quickly and accurately the latter problem seems unlikely to be an issue.

Maybe that was a bit harsh I do think he has real quality and could be a key player in our new set up, but I did think he used to dawdle a little, but having said that, that maybe due to the lack of movement from our team.....something that we hope is a thing of the past.
