aqua sold for reported 7 mill and allen bought for reported 15 mill is yet more poor business IMO. i like alberto as a player and think if we showed a real desire to keep him he would stay. hes a talented player and would no doubt fit well into the rodgers way of playing. allen on the other hand is a one season wonder who performed well last year but that one year has given him a mark up of maybe 10-12 mill on his acutal price. i dont like the idea of buying stupid amounts of money on one good year a la carroll and henderson again.

What we save on wages we can spend on the fee. One is a crock the other isn't. One is peaking, the other isn't even near peaking. One can tackle, the other can't. One is hungry and aggressive, the other is a huge fanny. I know who i'd rather have

The difference between Allen and Adam, Henderson, Carroll etc is that Rodgers worked with him. Dalglish hadn't worked with those others. Rodgers knows his qualities inside out and imo its not too much of a risk if the manager has 100% trust in him to do a good job for us. I think Allen could be a key signing if we get him.

yeh but hodgson knew the abilites of konchesky and poulsen before we bought them and no doubt had 100% trust in their qualities!

if rodgers thinks he will work then fine but hopefully not at the price reported given the fact we'll be selling a superior (IMO) player for half the money to make room.

Yeah, but we shouldn't judge rodgers on hodgsons standards. We've got to give him a fair crack of the whip. He was apparently the person who pulled the plug on the sigurdson deal because of poor value. Let's trust his judgement. Personally I think Allen would be a key signing as well. Very good player

I really think people care much to much about the finances in football at the minute.

Aquilani hasn't settled nor played much PL football. We need players who fit the way Rodgers wants to play and Allen is certainly that. It seems odd to me that people are so resistant to the idea of Directors of Football yet want their own partialities for players to be indulged rather than the manager shaping the squad he wants.

To be fair, whos going to remember we signed Joe Allen for 15m when we have signed Downing for 20m, Carroll for 35m and Henderson for 18m. Doesn't seem like such a bad deal and people won't be concentrating on price for Allen as much.

i have faith in rodgers of course and his involvement in pulling the plug on the sigurdson deal is to be admired although i for one was not overly impressed with our chase of him in the first place but again if rodgers thought he would have worked for us then so be it.

my main complaint is this 15 mill fee being banded about for allen. he has done nothing to tell me he is worth spending such a huge amount on a player who is still relatively inexperienced with only 1 year at top level. we really need to buy players with experience under their belt and surely this could be spent on a player of that calibre.

we all know rodgers is shaping for the future and will hopefully build a team capable competing but as for people wanting their own partialities to be indulged i reckon its because of a burning desire to see us lifted from the mid table position we have occupied for 3 years now (obviously 5-8 isnt mid table but for lfc it feels like it) means the fans are getting more agitated....... at least it is for me.

All this assumes Allen is going to be a roaring success

If he isnt his fee will be scrutinised every bit as much as Downings & Carrolls

By the way we didnt pay anywhere near £18 million for Henderson

It was £13 million plus add-ons (upto £16 million) most of which we havent even come close to even meeting

He will be playing in a system he is familiar with, under a manager he is familiar with and comfortable playing for. There is no reason why he can't be a success. The only thing stopping him is the weight of expectation at Liverpool and I'm sure if Rodgers didn't think he had the mentality to make a step up to this level then he wouldn't sign him.

Show some ****ing respect, we have taken the likes of Hull to the Champions Lg Final whilst holding down a job and just about a relationship. We know financial models inside and out, what we do not know about Football Finance is not worth knowing. We have balanced the books, paid off financing whilst laying down heated soil and expanding the corporate box sections.

I agree, I could not care less about the numbers .. I have faith in these people as Business People, they see the bigger picture as would anyone with a smallest amount of commercial nonce, the prize here is truly massive, taking a hit on past owners mistakes is inevitable, you just have to work the kinks out of the system as quickly as possible and try hard to repeat them as little as possible.

I will be relived if he is gone for that money ... but much like Carroll ... I find it difficult to care ... either way we will be alright
