If a player wants out, they dont sign a new deal, full stop. No player (or certainly no agent, anyway) would be stupid enough to sign a new contract if they want out, on the basis of a "gentleman's agreement" - the agent would, at the very least, get that in writing or as a clause in the contract. Otherwise, they wouldnt sign the deal - unless, of course, the player WAS just very happy to stay.
****in greedy cunts and they think we will feel sorry for them.

According to a Spurs mate of mine...When Modric arrived at Spurs the club asked him to get some passport photos for himself and his missus and they would sort out driving licences. He proceeded to get the photos but both he and his missus were in all the photosOriginally posted by Rich View PostModric was a bit stupid signing up for six years though.Substance > Style

Modric hands in transfer request to Spurs chairman Levy in bid to force Chelsea move

Luka Modric submitted a written transfer request on Wednesday night in a desperate bid to secure his move from Tottenham to Chelsea.
The Croatia midfielder sent his request directly to Daniel Levy and again made it clear that he feels the Spurs chairman broke a verbal agreement made when Modric signed his last long-term contract.
The 25-year-old insists Levy promised to let him move if the club received the kind of offer that Chelsea have tabled. However, two bids from Stamford Bridge have been rejected — initially for £22million and this week for £27m — with Tottenham insisting the player would not be sold at any price.
Out of respect to Harry Redknapp, Modric has still travelled to South Africa with his colleagues for the start of their pre-season tour.
The manager is not on the trip for personal reasons but Modric admires Redknapp and will continue to train and play for as long as he is at Tottenham.
It would come as no surprise to see Levy reject Modric’s transfer request, but an improved bid in excess of £30m, which is now expected, could be harder to turn down for a player so desperate to leave.
Michael Essien’s latest knee injury, which could rule him out for all of the coming season, has increased Chelsea’s urgency to strengthen in midfield and they have enquired about signing Scott Parker on a season-long loan from West Ham.
Aston Villa are also keen on Parker and have tabled a bid which is just £1m short of the England midfielder’s asking price.
However, the loan option is favoured by West Ham, who like the idea that the Footballer of the Year will return to Upton Park if Sam Allardyce leads them back to the Barclays Premier League at the first attempt.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club
