Good choice, he is a very good manager.

      Has he managed before?

          You're surely thinking of Pellegrini?

Always thought he was a good manager, Emery. When i said where has he gone, i obviously realised he wasnt in the job anymore I meant, is he going elsewhere specifically or is that not yet decided?

Sid Lowe said he was pretty unpopular and there had been calls for him to go for a lot of the season. The curse of a team who are top of the 'the other league' table consistently without challenging for anything I guess.

I dont know what their fans expect really. Had to sell their best players, financial woes and yet they're still 3rd. Who in their right mind would expect them to challenge the top two?

A lot of Spanish fans seem to put a lot of stock in the style of play too. Not seen enough of them to be able to speak to that. I thought Emery had a reputation for 'pragmatic' football though.

I thought Rafa would be a serious candidate for the Valencia job. Surely they sounded him out? And if they did, then the answer was obviously "no thanks".

Villas Boas was sounded out and he rejected them. Rafa wasn't mentioned in connection with them according to Balague (about as close a source to Rafa other than Owen ****ing Brown as you're going to get).

I doubt they sounded him out, considering how things were left between them the last time he was there.

It's all patched up between Rafa and Valencia - they had him over there earlier this season for a presentation. Got a hero's welcome.

Rafa Benítez, coach of Valencia CF 2001-2 to 2003-4, who achieved 2 league titles and a UEFA Cup with the Valencia club, will be the illustrious guest in the Directors Box at the Mestalla for Wednesday's encounter between Valencia CF and Barcelona, 21 September, kick off 10pm. In the match preliminaries, Benitez will receive the Golden Crest of the Club from the Valencia principal director, Manuel Llorente, in the Directors Box in recognition of his distinguished time at Valencia CF.

Ah ok. Wonder if the boardroom have changed since he was there? Not unlikely in Spain with the elections as president.
