Certainly wasn't appreciated by some sections of the media when he was with us........or rather, it didn't suit some pundits' agendas.
Went from being a player who probably didn't inject enough pace into our play, didn't score enough goals etc etc..........to all of a sudden being one of the best midfielder's in the world as soon as he turned out for Real.

Funny that. Anyone with an ounce of footballing nonce could see what he brings to a team.

I've said this before, but in around 2007/8 ish, SSN ran a poll "who is the best midfielder in the Premier League?" and they listed 10 players. Xabi wasn't one of them.

We were always a "two man team", Alonso then left and he was the reason we fell apart! As you say, he became world class the minute he left us.

He hasn't really though has he? The guy is the model professional IMO. Just because he's under Mourinho means nothing. The best teams wins the
league every year, fair play to Madrid,Mourinho & the players. Alonso really made the right move away from us and his career has blossomed.

His career has been one of good decisions. Respect to him and his agent.
