Not sure the FFP rules have an issue with debt. It's more about only spending what you earn. The mancs have debts of hundreds of millions but, like Barca, they generate massive revenues so will have no problem as far as the fair play rules are concerned.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostBarca currently 1 down to Leviathan. They'll have to dig deep for a result here Barca.
Saw a tweet earlier tonight about Barca's debt being a reported 587m Euro's.
Wonder how they're going to get round the FFP rules with a debt like that.
For what it's worth, i hardly expect the rules to be that heavily enforced anyway, or if they are, i think the punishments will be so tame that no club will be arsed anyway.

Point taken however the Mancs debt as well know is as a result of a leveraged by out. Barca's debt, to the best of my knowledge, is not as a result of a leveraged buy out, or funding of a new stadium. It's more a case of living out with their means. True they being in a hell of a lot of money each season however their outgoings appear to dwarf what they're bringing in.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostNot sure the FFP rules have an issue with debt. I guess my main point was that debt in itself isnt really a bad thing, it's just about the debt being manageable and serviceable via your revenues. Our debt when we had Gillett and Hicks wasnt really bad as such (apart from it being cuntery that they had to borrow to buy the club, but that's the leveraged buyout for you - and of course, the fact that they put the debt on the club after saying they wouldnt) but the fact that we didnt generate enough to service the debt and still compete in the transfer market is what made it a completely impossible situation to sustain.

Ah sure they can just sell Messi to Man City for €588m, and use the extra 1 million to buy Stewie Downing & Frank Spencer.... i mean Jordan HendersonOriginally posted by spud_gun View PostBarca currently 1 down to Leviathan. They'll have to dig deep for a result here Barca.
