To be fair, backup keepers generally are **** as they never get a game. It's only when your 1st choice is also **** that it becomes an issue

Not standing up for Jones by any means, but I wouldn't be so certain that Mig would save that either. Not because it was a great shot, but it was an error in anticipation for me and more than a few of them have got by Mig. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't. I honestly don't think his shot-stopping is above PL average, despite what stats may be produced about his time at Sunderland.

On another day, the keeper could choose to dive the other way and make the save.

Anyway, I've nothing against him but playing Jones was an unnecessary gamble and it didn't pay any dividends. Another stupid decision by rodgers.

I don't think it was. Think it was a clear message to whoever we are targeting in January that they'll come in as Number 1. I honestly don't think we'd be in a worse position now had Jones started the season than we are having had Mignolet in pegs.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

I'd hope so. Have you seen the two we've got

Super harsh. You're hardly going to get a look at when Mark Schwarzer was first choice, who was an excellent keeper. Give brad a few games to sort himself out. He hasnt played since last year. At the very least hes more confident than mignolet. He's not awesome, but I'd rather he get to play over the other one right now.

He's absolutely ****e. Let's face it, he's a lot worse than Mignolet. That is obvious. He shouldn't be playing for Liverpool and certainly not at Old Trafford. I understand taking Mignolet out of the firing line - a bit like Hart last year - but it should not have come to this where Bad Jones is in our goal at Old Trafford FFS.

we shouldnt be sending out messages to our potential new keeper during one of our biggest games of the season.

I think its more than Migs being ****e though...think its got more to do with the unrest/atanding up to gerrard/dressing room arguments or something thats not on the pitch. Rodgers must have seen Jones loads over the last couple of seasons he knows he is absolute garbage and championship level at best something has gone on behind the scenes imo.

Completely agree. He wasn't even good enough for Boro!

When Brad Jones is your first choice keeper, you know you're ****ed

There has been better games to take a player out of the spotlight.

Why not do it against Bournemouth and then let Jones try and play himself into the spot.

I'm speculating here, but to me it was to show he's not afraid to make big decisions.

Lots of us have questioned whether he's brave enough to drop Gerrard etc. To me this was him publicly trying to show he's authoritative.

You're probably right about wanting to make a statement but Mignolet didn't make (m)any mistakes against Basle, so to then drop him for United just adds to the impression that his judgement and decision-making has gone.
