Wenger should splash the cash on Javier Martinez and Llorente. It would cost them a lot of money but that is the type of players they need.
I'm a bit surprised that no team made a big bid for Martinez. So many of the top clubs need a player like him.
Arsenal lack a leader on the pitch and Martinez would solve that problem.Stop the cyberhate

Perfect time for a another read of this:
Dear Stan,
I thought it best that I put my vision for the future in writing, now that you have become our major shareholder.
As you know, I have a unique outlook on football. One that has helped shape Arsenal into the club it is today. I am aware you, the players, and supporters are concerned after the home defeat to Liverpool, so I have taken it upon myself to make things clearer.
Victory is but a crass expression of superiority displayed by those insecure in their ability.
I have every confidence in my team and so the need for such trinkets is less.
You may see some teams taking the ultimate pride as they wave trophies around come the season's end. Be aware we will not stoop to these levels.
Look at Stoke City (or the anti-Christ as I often refer to them in private). They reached the final of the FA Cup. Is that a competition we would be interesting in winning after this? I think not.
Stoke is the white transit van to our Ferrari. They may take that white transit van to places like Wembley and they may even return home with a trophy in the back of it, but it will still be a white transit van and we will still be a Ferrari. The knowledge of this is enough.
Their opponents, Manchester City, are simply a vulgar expression of wealth. They are the trophy wife who has been bought the nicest clothes and jewellery. How the English say? All fur coat and no knickers?
If you know you have the prettiest wife at home then you do not feel the need to prove it, you are content simply having the knowledge. That is how I feel with my team.
Buy a renowned central defender ‘they’ said. Why? Where would the achievement be in that? Is this not like an artist becoming frustrated with his work and buying a painting instead?
A man has to ask himself: ‘Can there be a mixture of football and art?’ as football IS art and therefore from a narrow perspective maybe art IS football.
It is not something I can explain for you but something that you have to find the answers for within. Buying a renowned central defender could hinder this organic process.
Buy a goalkeeper ‘they’ said. Why? Gandhi walked barefoot most everywhere he went and this adds to his story. Struggling without a single strong keeper these past few years can be our comparison to not wearing shoes. It makes our progress that more remarkable.
I can even take satisfaction from the way the referees are clearly aiming to halt our progress.
As we approach Christmas, there is a lot to be said about comparisons between our situation and the origins of the religious festival. Against the greatest adversity we will still triumph in our own way.
You see Stan, it’s these things which make our club unique.
I hope you appreciate this is more than simply any old football club aiming to win trophies.
So, I will ask you for funds for the transfer market but I will not spend these on the obvious candidates to simply help us acquire titles.
No, I will use the funds on imports seldom heard of in these lands and whether these bring perceived ‘success’ or not is irrelevant, for I will be secure in the thoughts that my knowledge of the game is greater than the rest.
Yours,
Arsene

Seeing these players being taken off Arsenal by big spending clubs of late, makes me wonder why no one has tried to take RVP off them, he's rated as one of the best players they have is he not ?
Too injury prone maybe ? it just seems odd no big club has tried to get him away from Arsenal, maybe he's not thought of as highly as i think he was.Last edited by Vermilion; 24-08-11, 07:10 PM.
