Good deal for West Ham £100m for a youth player. Rice was dominated by Amrabat in the Conference final.
I genuinely believe if he kept his Irish passport he wouldn’t go for half if that. He us a good player but nowhere near 100m - neither was Grealish, Pogba, Hazard, Coutinho etc though

Nowhere near being a 100m player but then again few players are worth the sort of fees that get banded about for them.
The nationality thing is a good point. If he was Irish he would go for 40m to 50m but with the caveat that all us Irish lads would be raving about how good he is and that if he were English how he would go for twice as much

Rice still had a decent game though and the difference between him and Amrabat is that Rice seems to be able to be a steady performer all season long whereas Amrabat appears to be a very streaky player formwise.
Do think for anything like 60m/65m or less, that Rice would be a very good purchase for any of the top teams in England.
He does pretty much everything well in the middle of the pitch and is just so consistent. The kind of guy you use as the rock solid foundation in the middle and that the flair and box to box guys get built around.

Plenty of examples, not just the obvious English ones. I'm of the opinion that if Matip played for Germany instead of Cameroon people would have rated him much higher. Outside of Germany and Liverpool fans no one seems to think much of him.

Think what is being highlighted there though is the difference between fans of teams in the Bundesliga and fans of Premier league teams.
Not every single fan of course, but when it comes to Premier league teams the blinkers tend to be on when it comes to players of other PL clubs whereas in Germany people (again not all of course) seem to be able to see (or rather are more inclined to openly admit it ) a good player for what he is no matter what shirt he wears.
The Sky and UK media bubble also plays a big part imo of hyping certain players and managers no matter what the on pitch performances are like whilst other players get ignored.
Very much style over substance in order to push a product.

Peak Henderson Mk2. I imagine if he came he would be as polarising too
I think a lot of attacking players that look great in the German league fail to deliver in the prem.
Recently Sancho, Havertz, Werner, Dakar, Haller, Pulisic all came with big expectations but have been been disappointing
Probably no different a strike rate as to attackers flopping that come from other countries or even that move between English clubs.
For every list of semi recent transfers of attacking players from Germany to the Premier League like the one you made above there could be one containing the likes of Haaland, Firmino, Sane, De Bruyne, Aubameyang, Son, Dzeko etc
