They claim all sorts of crap. He nutted the guy in the side of the head.

‘Nutted’ makes it sound intentional - they were both going for the ball and the contact was accidental

Accidental head clashes are never normally given as pens

We've been on the wrong side of some questionable referee's numerous times and Arsenal fans have usually always made fun of us or told us to quit whining so it's quite amusing to see them being worked up like this.

            * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Yep, just wish it could've been even more contentious

Take the coming together in the box that happened, but this time Saliba makes an honest attempt to get the ball with his foot, he misses and the coming together brings Pedro down.

The contact is still accidental, the intent was to only get the ball, but would still be a penalty.

Only difference is the body part that failed to connect with the ball but instead connected with the attacking player in the box.

Headers are completely different though - when you go for a header you are only looking at the ball and your field of vision reduces the closer the ball gets to your head.

It’s also a natural reaction to close your eyes just before you connect which further increases the chances of accidental collisions.

Completely different than a ground tackle where your eyes are 5-6ft away from the ball and your field of vision and spatial awareness is much greater.

But the fundamental point is sound, accidental contact can still be a foul. Carelessness is sufficient to award a free kick or penalty, as is impeding a player, whether or not contact was made with the ball.

Id argue that it wasn't just careless, it was reckless. When Jones's foot bounced off the ball and into a player he was red carded, not because he meant to do it, but because it was reckless to have made the tackle, as proven by the consequence of making it. Lunging with you heard towards the side of someone's head, even if the intention was to play the ball, is more dangerous that Jones's attempted tackle so it was reckless for the defender to try and win the ball like that in the first place.

I'd be fuming if that was given against us.

The amount of crying over this from them is hilarious.

No mention of how negative their tactics were, how they dug in for a 1 nil after 25 mins. How they time wasted all game. Fell over all game. How they created no chances second half when they needed to. Nope. Just them moaning about the ****ing ref as per

                        Worst fanbase out there.

                          Why?

There are so many pens given because of ' the letter of the law', when defenders aren't preventing anything or stopping an advantage, basically the forward is going nowhere, or the ball is already away, but a pen is still given. That defeats the purpose of giving a pen IMO.

Pedro knocked the ball on with his head here, planning on taking it down in an extremely dangerous position and was completely taken out of the game by the defender who was nowhere near the ball.. IMO, it's almost the perfect example of when and why a pen should be given.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I’d be annoyed if it was against us, same as almost every penalty decision… but I’d accept it was the correct decision. Their reaction to this, along with every other ridiculous, perceived injustice, is just a manifestation of a manager and team, intent on fine margins football. Sometimes this **** will happen and you’ll drop points… and probably fail to win the league.

I’d also be fuming as there has never been a pen given for this previously

But can you think of any examples where that situation has happened and hasn't been given?
