I really like Miereles, but Sturridge in exchange is a deal I would do.

You've inadvertently backed up my argument. You said "the transfer is 50/50", not it's "a 50/50 transfer". It's just not a figure of speech anyone uses.
My point is jokes like that don't work if they rely on unnatural constructions.
What do you think?

Still remain to be convinced about Sturridge. Just do not see him making it at a top club.
Would much rather we kept our best players (Meireles included) and if we want Benayoun or whoever, did not use any of our first team squad as bait."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

Chelsea would seriously have to sweeten the deal to get Meireles, no thanks Yossi. I agree with several other posters that Sturridge plus cash in that deal, would be hard to ignore. Sturridg eis a very talented young footballer, lots of potential IMO.
Meireles could be a vital squad player for us, so anything other than a sweet deal there's no way he should be leaving.

I'd rather keep Meireles. But if he must go, we mustn't sell him to a rival. No point strengthening our competitors unless we are seriously compensated (i.e. someone like Sturridge rather than one of their cast offs).
Of course, this close to the end of the transfer window reduces options. But of course we should make the tight timeframe Chelsea's problem, not ours. No! I am NOT in denial!
